Terrorism hits San Francisco

From Yahoo/Reuters

Those insidious bastards...

Probably patrons of the other real coffee shops Starbucks put out of business in the local vicinity.

Freakin'' coffee activists! I don''t know what''s wrong with these kids these days.

Tempting to do something similar to the Ben & Jerry''s that opened *next* to the locally owned ice cream shop hear in Ann Arbor. I mean I like B&Js but that''s just without class...they can afford to lose money while they run the local business out of business.

Probably scorned ex-employees who didn''t make the Women of Starbucks issue...

Every goddamn franchise does that. Welcome to the wonderful world of big business. :/

Guess what! The era of a mom and pop store like that is over. Welcome to the new world. The big business can offer their product at a lower price to the consumer, the consumer makes the choice. Don''t blame big business blame your self. Do you shop at Wal*Mart? Do you care about the poor?

Wal*Mart is the best thing ever to happen to the poor when it comes to stores.

I don''t care much for the Brand new world, honestly. And no, I don''t shop at Wal Mart, because there aren''t any here. But I do make a point of shopping at small, independent stores instead of department store chain X, unless there''s some kind of a sale. I just like them better. And they usually carry more of the stuff outside the lowest-common-denominator sh*te, and this is To Be Encouraged imho.

Anyways, I was thinking more of the McDonalds and Starbucks of the world, not Wal Mart. Although there are of course quite a few similarities in the business model.

Wal-mart bought a chain of stores in Canada, and Canadians I talked to in Toronto really resent it. They then see how much cheaper things are in Wal-mart than the Canadian equivalent. Which basically results in them shopping in Wal-mart half the time, but feeling really, really bad about it.
