Not to be insenstive, but did anyone notice how fast the news organizations snapped up graphics and obits for his passing? Sounds like they''ve been hanging on to it.

Imagine living to 100? If you still had your wits about you imagine the reflecting you could do those last few months?
Yeah, I mean the man has seen the birth of modern warfare. He saw wars go from the European tiny skirmishes to world total wars and back again to tiny (by comparison) operations like Iraqi Freedom. It''s gotta be one hell of a perspective, assuming you can remember any of it
Typically, news organizations keep a running obit of anyone of signifigance once they hit a certain age. That way, once the person actually passes, they can run immediately.
That''s why a young person''s obit (like River Phoenix) is typically details about the death while Bob Hope''s is a recollection of his life.
Not to turn this into a politic thread (even though it is in the P and C forum), but the Administration could announce that Saddam''s dead and the WMDs have been found but it''d be second banana to this story.
Can''t say I agree with that RB. Today in USA Today there was an article about how Saddam''s death could mean up to a 1,000 point jump in the DOW. Crazy.
Look, no one will disagree that news events play a factor in how the market does, but Saddam''s death will not give it a 1000 point kick. The market tends to react to bad new more extremely than good news.
Rat, I don''t think it will go up 1,000 either, just thought it was interesting to see that in USA Today. They did say when his sons died, they had a mini rally of a 100 point spike.

Still, one hell of a guy.
He also was around for the birth of flight and spacetravel, of telecommunications and thinking machines, and everything in between.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
I''d thought you''d post that story on how all those pre-prepared obits were accidentally posted on the CNN website. Those morbid liberals.

Oh. Right. Sorry.
Damn those liberals.

Mark your calendars, because I agree 100% with both of Rat Boy''s previous posts.
I started my own blog so when I feel the need to make an ass out of myself, I won't have as far to go.
