Bill Maher's comedy special on HBO

Anybody catch it last night? Funny, and politically charged stuff.

"The Joker is not the Riddler."

I find Bill Maher funny. I saw it and thought it was fantastic. He did get a little too preachy for me at some points but he was on 85%. I also like the fact that he doesn''t really demonize people who disagree with him.

I also like the fact that he doesn''t really demonize people who disagree with him.

I do too. I appreciate that his show Real Time, isn''t a pulpit for pimping new movies, and does try to provide people who disagree with him equal time. Where Politically Incorrect just became a dumping ground for studio PR disguised as a political opinion show, his new show is precisely directed at getting people with genuine opinions on stage.

He''s kind of a liberal Chris Matthews, in that he certainly has a political slant, but he doesn''t really fall precisely into one category, and you get the impression that his opinions are produced by him and not for him.

Is this a show, or does he have a new standup thing on HBO?

It''s a 1 hour stand-up. I watched the first 15 minutes and thought it was a little too preachy and caustic, but I still have it on my tivo and might come back to it later.

I usually love Bill Maher, but since Politically Incorrect got canned I think he''s gone a little down hill. I watched a couple shows of his HBO series and just couldn''t get into it like I could PI.
