I've changed my major..

Only a year away from my Econ degree and I've changed majors. I'm attending ASU this Spring (hitting a CC for one term) and I've changed my major to: History.

I'm going to focus on three areas: The Premodenr World, War and REvolution, and Empire and Nation.

Fascinating! I minored in History, and absolutely loved it.

What made you decide to change? It seems like quite a shift.

I asked for a degree in burning things at my liberal arts college and they sent to me to the Psych dept. So, now I''m a psych and crim major. Life is funny.

I had wanted to be a history major but an old friend of mine majored in Civil War history and listening to him prattle on about the same three battles really soured the whole experience for me. I mean, come on, North won, South lost, Sic Semper Tyranus, Lincoln dead. How interesting is that?

I''m not sure if I want to earn a MBA. That and a good Liberal Arts education goes a long way.

Now that''s just priceless.

lesson one: there was no such thing as communism as a real existing government in this world ;).

Jokes aside, I envy you for this choice. I always wanted to take history and politics as a part time study next to my job, but the university cancelled the courses for remote students :(.

Great! I hope with that outstanding choice, that you and Elysium have stimulating conversations between serving breakfast and the early bird specials over at International House of Pancakes.

But Elysium gets discounts at the coffee shop!

Won''t be long before one of us think to have the forum software automatically replace with a better self-depricating phrase. Particularly when is used to belittle my outstanding achievements!

Such as preventing your clientel from scalding their mouth with milk froth?

:I''m a Dork!: D''oh!

Listen, milk froth is a serious issue in the caffeinated beverage industry!

Well, then maybe someone in this thread will suggest a good, unbiased book detailing the Mexican American war. The best-reviewed book I found was ""So far from god"" (a phrase taken from Mexican dictator Díaz, who said ""Poor Mexico, so far from god, so close to the United States"").
But it''s written by a descendant of Eisenhower, and reviews mention severe bias in some instances.

I''ll buy it anyway, but are there any better books on that subject?

The roll is dead, long live the !

Now this - - I can get on board with.
