In the next Clancy movie, Jack Ryan meets...Jack Ryan?

From May 12th's update at Dark Horizons

Red Rabbit: In a nice sense of irony, it looks like Alec Baldwin is returning to the Jack Ryan franchise which he helped kick off - though not as you might expect. The Z Review reports that Baldwin is in talks to co-star in this adaptation of Tom Clancy's "Red Rabbit" alongside Ben Affleck - both actors having played Jack Ryan in previous films ("The Hunt for Red October & "The Sum of All Fears" respectively). As Affleck will be playing Ryan again this time around, it means Baldwin's role will likely be that of Chief of Station Ed Foley. This may cause some confusion admittedly amongst filmgoers although the pair have worked together before in 2001's "Pearl Harbor". Thanks to 'Roger'.

Now if there's some way to work in Harrison Ford (maybe as one of Jack's bosses at the CIA), then you'd have the trifecta.

Coincidentally, 22 years ago today, the Pope was shot by that Turkish assassin, so sayeth The History Channel. But, we all know who was really behind the hit, now, don't we.

If its anywhere near as crappy as The Sum of All Fears (and I have no reason to believe otherwise) then I will stay very very far away from this movie.

What would be really funny is an exchange like this:

Baldwin, ""You know you remind me of myself at your age.""

Affleck, ""Well then, you seem to have let yourself go. If I''m like you at your age, I''ll fire myself!""

*brum chee*

I don''t know, I liked Sum of all Fears. Of course, I''m not one of those guys who hates Ben Affleck so that might be part of the reason.

Hey, I''m not a particular fan of Ben Affleck and his hypnotic effect on women (particulary mine), but I thought he was good in The Sum of All Fears. Of course, the real question is, how are they going to do Red Rabbit? Sure, Jack is the young go-getter from the film version of SoAF, but the novel took place in 1980-1981. Don''t tell me you have to take each movie like a Bugs Bunny short and assume in every one he''s just meeting Elmer Fudd for the first time.

Well I think Sum Of All Fears pretty much seals the fact that indeed each movie is its own seperate entity and anything can happy. Screw continuity!

You''d make an excellent Star Trek producer, Gaald.
