Gollum does the Simpsons!

Yep, the man himself Anthony Serkis played Cleanie, the Gollumized sidekick of Cookie. You know you've made it when they let you do The Simpsons. And even before Tony Blair to boot.

That was Serkis? Now I''m even more amused, and I was pretty darn amused to begin with. I think that deserves the dancing Strong Bad.

Are you telling me Jonathan Taylor Thomas has made it? I''ve always wondered how they decide which famous voices they just impersonate and which they decide to get the actual person for. I''m pretty sure someone could have done a decent enough Gollum, especially for one line. It makes me wonder if Mr. Serkis happened to be touring the studio and they wrote him in, or maybe it was arranged at a cocktail party. I was happy to see they went to the source, though.

I was only watching the credits to see who the voice of the kid was, and when it turned out to be JTT I finally realized its possible to completely fade into obscurity and reappear at will.

Ok, Ive worked out the formula, lets see how it goes.

Take the total number of celebrities appearing on a given episode, then figure out how sh*tty the script is (call it the sh*t factor).

The sh*t factor used to go up to 10, but these past few seasons has shot it up to 50.

Then you figure it up like this, the total number of celebrities is directly proportional to the sh*t factor.

So therefore, when a script really sucks, which is every script for the past 3 years or so, then you need more celebrities. Whoever''s available, just get em in the studio and write up a cliche''d character, quickly! My latte is getting cold.

No Im not bitter.

*edit* just want to say that this reflects in no way on the celebrities who do the voices, as Andy Serkis is great. Its the writers that I wish to burn in the seventh circle of hell.

They''ve given you thousands of hours of entertainment for free. What could they possibly owe you? If anything, you owe them.

I never said they owed me a dime, though I would like to think any debt incurred on my part is repaid by the millions they''ve made from licensing and advertising. Why I am pissed at them is that they have taken something I loved and turned it to sh*t. Also, these are not the same writers that gave me entertainment. Those guys left, entirely new crew, and the show starts to suck. These jokers haven''t given me anything. Ah well, at least there''s DVD''s of the previous seasons.

Also, I think looking at art in terms of debts and payments is pretty ridiculous in and of itself. But thats an entirely different topic.

A *real* fan would have realized that was a Comic Book Guy quote. A scene directed at viewers that turn their backs as soon as the show ceases to be 100 times better than anything else, and becomes a mortal show. The Simpsons could be as horribly awful as Family Guy, and I would watch it by default. If for no more reason than blind loyalty, the hope to catch the flashes of former brilliance the show produces sometimes.

Yeah, come on. By now, everybody has been a guest on the Simpsons.

Aargh! Foiled again!

Yeah, I wasn''t saying it was bad to watch it either. Simply that the writers aren''t doing thier job, and instead are living in the hollowed out corpse of a giant.

I still think it''s funny, and my favorite show on TV. Even still. But, opinions...
