Sprited Away wins Oscar

Holy sh*t. An Anime won an Oscar. I didn't think I'd be alive when that happened. Is anyone else shocked by this?

I''ve never been this apathetic to an Oscar show in my whole life.

Agreed. I didn''t even realize they were today. I didn''t want to watch anyway, since I figured just about every celebrity there would use it as a pulpit to talk about the war. For some reason they seem to think their opinions are more valuable then other people''s because they''re movie stars.

Oddly enough, so far the only one whose used the bully pulpit is (surprise) Michael Moore.

Have you ever heard Dennis Leary''s skit on this topic? It''s pretty damn funny.

Side note: Michael Moore just got booed off the stage.

Steve Martin can be pretty witty, too.

And that Adrian Brody kid must''ve been on crack or something.

Hey, if you had a chance to lay a big old smooch on Halle Berry, would YOU pass it up?

Will I get paid?

A shame the The Pianst didn''t rise to the occasion.

What did Michael Moore say?

What did Michael Moore say?

Well Mex to paraphrase:

He talked about the ficticious vote that got the ficticious U.S. president into power so he could start his war for ficticious reasons.

I would also like to add that while it sounded like the majority of the crowd was booing him off the stage there was a lot of clapping to be heard as well.

I for one am glad there are people like him out there who are not afraid to speak their mind, even when their opinions may not be what the government would like everyone to hear. That is after all apparently why America is out fighting this war in Iraq.

Steve Martin is one of my all time favorites. After Moore made his rant, Steve came back on and said: ""It''s really very touching back stage, the teamsters are assiting Moore to the trunk of their car.""

Steve Martin did a fantastic job with this years Academy Awards.

Spirited Away was a great flick, if you haven''t seen it yet, and like anime, go get the DVD now!!!

You may thank me later.

So, there are other anime junkies in here....

Welcome to the club...

About Spirited Away, as far as I can put it together it's a great anime, but then again I base it on the bits here and there that I was able to see... so I'm not entirely sure. Plus I can''t really afford to get it on DVD right now because I spent 180$ buying Trigun box set... finally I might add...

Im totally laggin...

I havent bought the Cowboy Bebop boxed set yet.

I havent bought Fushigi Yugi boxed set yet.

I havent bought Trigun either.

*Sniff* I havent even been to Toys r'' Us or www.hlj.com in months.

The last toys Ive gotten where the Char''s Counter Attack action figures released several months ago!

The Suncoast store in my nearby mall either left or closed down. That mall is totally sad now. I''d say that 50% of its rental space is vacant.

Go to the Valco Shopping Center in the SF Bay Area and you''ll see what i mean.

I havent bought the Cowboy Bebop boxed set yet.

Amazon.com had a pretty good deal over the holidays, all 6 for less than $100. The actual ""box"" set, The Perfect Sessions, is like $150 or so. Of course, You''ll pry my Perfect Sessions from my cold dead hands, and not before!

Mmmm... Cowboy Bebop.. .great series. I don''t own them yet, but borrowed them off a buddy.

I''ll definately be picking the box up when I have some extra cash...

Cowboy Bebop under 100$,... dang i guess it can wait! n-oooo....

I don''t know about you but this box sets beginning to put a hole in my pocket, not to mention I'm running out of room to store them...

not to mention I'm running out of room to store them...

Not advocating piracy, but if youre running out of room to put your DVD''s, you might want to look into ripping them, if you have some money to throw at a box with a big hdd. I was thinking about it with my MythTV box, but it does take alot of HDD space.

Not advocating piracy, but if youre running out of room to put your DVD''s, you might want to look into ripping them,

If you have them, what''s the point of ripping them to a HD, you still have to put the case somewhere.

Unless.. of course.. you''re advocating piracy.

Just buy some wall mount shelving! Any closet does the trick too... or kitch cupboards... the fridge.. etc

You mean just rent the DVD and rip it? Or you mean buy it first"… Because if I have to buy and rip, I'm still stuck with the same dilemma of where to put it, because I have 4 things that are fighting for the shelf... PS2, Xbox, PC/PSone and then the DVD''s.... and currently my DVD''s a pushing the games out... Just for the record it''s a big shelf!

I don''t think anyone here is advocating renting then ripping DVDs. Right?

Right?!

I would still buy my copy...

I never doubted it for a moment.

Thanks...

ARRRRRGH! Now amazon.com has an actual box set for sale? Back when I bought each disc seperately, the only way to get a boxset was to pay $200+ US for the ""Perfect Sessions""
