Even worse than Flash Gordon?

Has anyone seen the trailers for the new movie, "The Core"? It appears to me that this movie might actually take the cake as the most scientifically innaccurate movie ever. They plan on driving a giant metal craft into the center of the Earth, detonating a nuclear warhead and "jumpstarting" the planet. . . Will there be tree-people there?

Oh, there''s nothing I hate more than a movie that pretends to be scientific for all of thirty minutes before abandoning itself to the same hackneyed cliches of every movie that came before. It''s fine to indulge in flights of fancy, but don''t try and sound intellectual on the way unless you can sustain it. This includes every space movie that has the so-called backing of NASA, and then has spaceships make whooshing sounds as they pass. I''m in complete agreement with ''The Boy'' here. The Core looks horrendous in every conceivable fashion, worse possibly than Twister.

But...but...fellas...it has a giant, nuclear-rocket-powered drill-tipped doohicky with, like, people on board, and stuff! And they go to the center of the earth! Where they will detonate, like, a rilly, rilly, big bomb!

Actually I think I saw a porn flick with more or less the same design... ok a few subtle difference...

I have a friend with a degree in Astrophysics. Whenever he sees the trailer for ""The Core"", the scream of rage is deafening.

lol, this plot is almost as dumb as:

- Taking a space ship to a meteor with an ocean drilling team.
- Landing a space ship on a moving meteor.
- Drilling to the ""core"" and putting a nuke in.
- Then getting on your ship and taking off from the moving meteor and blowing it up when you''re a safe distance away.

Earth Saved!!!

now, that would be a dumb plot!

Still, it was a good flick...

But, but, it had Aerosmith!

Anything with Aerosmith HAS to be good. . . Right Elysium?

Flash...ah ah!

* looks around and pretends not to know what you''re talking about.*

I''ll probably be ridiculed something rotten for this but I actually liked THAT metero based film I think Bruckheimer makes good films (as long as he sticks to no brainer action films) and yes I do like Aerosmith

Heh, the Flash Gordon soundtrack was the first record I ever owned. Yes, I said record. As in vinyl.

I still like Queen. No making fun, you Aerosmith-liking freaks

Actually I always liked Queen too, though I gravitated more toward the Highlander soundtrack (It''s a Kind of Magic).

It begs the question ... who wants to live forever?

I made fun of it AND have the DVD.

That could be a whole other thread. Guilty movie pleasures: Movies you know were soo cheesy, yet you can watch over and over.
