What you're playing

So, in the attempt to facilitate some kind of discussion, what have you been playing lately?

For me, I've been rotating my time between Asheron's Call 2, Sim City 4, No One Lives Forever 2, and the occasionaly Tiger Woods grudge match. I've been surprisingly satisfied with these games, and despite what some naysayers like to think Asheron's Call 2 is really a pretty fun game when you've got a regular crowd to play with.

Ok, I accept that this is a blatant attempt to spur conversation, so let's just agree on that point and move on.

Well Blueto, I''ve been playing Medievil: Total War, Planescape Torment, Age of Kings (multiplayer) and whooping your candy ass at Tiger Woods golf.

For the record, my ass is not made of candy. And I wouldn''t get to high and mighty. I''ve seen you putt. It''s not good.

Sly Cooper...I''m going back, finding all the clues and having a go at those bastardly (hmm, good word) thief sprints. Solaris on my 2600 is getting a look in too. Soon though, Panzer Dragoon will rule all!

I''ve been spending my spare time on Kohan: Ahriman''s Gift. It''s old but I never got around to playing it when it first came out. I''m glad I decided to give it time though. The game is simply incredible.

It has a cool story for an RTS, a pretty unique combat system which takes terrain, formations, moral, experience, leaders and loads of other stuff into account. As a bonus the economy of the game actually makes sense and doesn''t revolve around the tired ""Build more SCVS! We require more vespene gas"" formula.

I''ve also played a little bit of Syberia but so far the game has failed to draw me in. It''s no Longest Journey that''s for sure.

Buffy on the Xbox. It''s got witty remarks! Well, not really. But it''s a hell of a brawler. The fighting system kicks ass. A-ha-ha.

I seem to be using short sentences. I blame the recent grammar review. The one we did in my poetry class. Yes, you need grammar to write poety. Who knew.

I just beat Gothic II (some of you might know who I am by now :P) and I''m not sure yet whether I''ll go through it with another guild now or check out Homeworld: Cataclysm. (Only played the original HW so far.)

Hmmm, who could I possibly know who''s recently beaten Gothic II?

Who could it be?

Naked: How many master theif sprints have you finished? I''ve done all but three, and then Suikoden III came along and stole me away from Sly Cooper.

I''m playing Pokémon Sapphire right now (because I''m a winner), and I''m waiting anxiously for Breath of Fire V.

Hi there, guys, how are you? GREAT site you have here, I hope it does well. Lately much of my time has been taken up with two games. First off, the MMORPG/Space Sim Jumpgate has been taking up much of my time. The second game is a Russian game that successfully mixes Elite with Star Control, which is called Space Rangers. Also, I''m getting one of those press beta''s of Freelancer soon, so I''ll be VERY busy.

Just for the record, I would kill for an update of Elite. Heck, just mentioning it makes me want to relive that experience for the first time!

Metroid Prime (only about 35% done, at the part where there doesnt appear to be any save points for 3 boss fights......I have to be missing something)
Kohan Ahriman''s Gift (for the mp)
and a little bit of bf1942

Well, we have Freelancer and X2 in the pipeline, both spiritual successors to Elite, as well as the planned Elite 4. Unfortunately, they''ll never allow you to relive that experience for the first time.

Can''t stop playing 1942. I''ve already ordered the add on. I just ordered Unreal II, hope it''s better than UT2003.. Although I do like the game it''s too much like quake. Not as fun as the origional UT.

Lots of SimCity 4, Impossible Creatures (quite fun, surprisingly), Panzer Dragoon Orta, War of the Monsters, and Asheron''s Call 2.

Lufia 2 on the SNES. A great game, that actually has some real gameplay to it in the form of some good puzzles in the dungeons. Its almost like a cross between a Zelda game and your standard J-RPG. A nice change of pace from the regular random battles between plot points gameplay you see in most J-RPG''s.

Why the SNES you ask? My XBox apparantly had a defective DVD drive which broke down, and is now 2000 miles away being repaired.

What do you excpet from Microsoft?!?!

Lufia 2 is one of my favourite RPG of all time. When you get down to the bottom of the dungeon you''ll love the last boss.

MGS2: Substance (cannot get enough of that sweet sweet sword slashing) and Morrowind, oh the possibilities!

PC
- Ghost Recon and it''s subsequent exp packs
- Janes Attack Squadron
- UT2003
- Deadly Dozen 2: Pacific Theater
- Steel Tide
- America''s Army

PS2
- DBZ Budokai
- Superman
- Kingdom Hearts
- Dynasty Warriors 3

XBox
- Superman
- Ghost Recon (Live)
- Baldurs Gate
- NFL Fever 2004 (trying, but I usually hate sports games)
- Battle Engine Aquila
- MGS Substance

Splinter Cell again. And now looking forward to Unreal 2, even though I I''m not sure how well it''ll run on my aging system.

--cut out old list---
A new list for going into the new year.

Horizons
Prince of Persia
KOTOR
After Christmas this list may change:)

Much the same. UT2k3, Battlefield, and Age of Mythology. Thrown in with a little Metroid.

A lot of Neocron, although it''s a buggy pile of sh*t, and Europa 1400 The Guild, which is the most addictive game in the world, EVAR!!1!

I hope to be playing MoO3, Deus Ex 2 and Gothic 2 soon.

Okay, at the risk of being shamed for all eternity on this board.

Ultima IX.

Yes I know all about how bad it is, but I haven''t played it before, and now that I have the system to run it, I want to see how the final chapter plays out.

So far I am enjoying it, probably because I don''t think of it as an RPG.
I treat it more as an action game with RPG elements.

Staying true to ""Gamers With Jobs,"" my gaming time has been limited to lunch breaks at work. Currently tackling NOLF2... pretty cool so far. I''m not too far into it... it hasn''t really grabbed me yet. I''m a little disappointed that I can''t seem to be as stealthy as I''d like to be... the baddies keep respawning. Also, the current mission I''m on (think it''s Siberia and the Records building) has too much traveling back and forth for my tastes. Don''t mean to sound like I don''t like the game --- I think it''s great and really enjoyed the original. Also, I hear it''s supposed to really pick up later.

Hoochie, I might be making a Rorschach inkblot out of something obvious... but what exactly is your avatar supposed to be. I think it frightens me.

Icewind Dale 2 and Medieval Total War

I agree with hoochie: the fighting system in Buffy kicks arse. Along with that, I can''t stop playing Deathrow or Splinter Cell, either. As for the PC, I just finished the Age of Mythology campaign. And I''ve been playing a little bit of Q3:UT.

I''m also going to try finishing a whole bunch of SP games that have been sitting around on my hard drive for a long time now. Games like Giants, Commandos 2, Serious Sam SE, Ghost Recon, Anachronox, Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights, Dungeon Siege, Duke Nukem Manhattan Project and Comanche 4 and Black & White. I hate the fact that I paid for all these games only to have them sit there, unfinished, silently mocking me. Especially Black & White

I am just about to do the same! so you won''t get any flames from me...

It''s a tattoo. It''s in Elvish script. It''s not supposed to ""resemble female anatomy.""

I''m changing it.

*Grumps off, wondering why she''s surprised.*

Don''t change it! Be bold and outrageous! Besides, now that we have some context for it, I don''t think we fear it as much. Ok, some of us (not me) might still fear it, but it''s just because they find it unusual, and some people fear the unknown. I''ll say this, it sure as hell stood out as an avatar!

- Elysium

Well, I''m playin Panzer Dragoon Orta and Splinter Cell. I also just picked up Tribunal for Morrowind to go along with NPCReplace 3.0 for it.
