Mr Gollop sir, as a young teen in the UK, my friend and I must have easily sunk 200 hours into Laser Squad which is certainly in our all time top 3 games from our youth (along with Kick Off 2 and IK+).
Thank you !
Great show as always guys. Glad to hear that this is another great month for gaming.

Calculords is indeed free (ad supported) on the iPad. There are a number of in app purchases, one of which is $1.99 to remove the ads. The game is easily worth $1.99 so I bought that as soon as I downloaded it.

That's my safe word, would have been weird(ly arousing).

I thought Darksiders was "Zelda for grown-ups"?
Darksiders is Zelda for people who like amazing art and boring games.

Ouch.
Dark Souls 2 definitely is shaping up to be more than a worthy successor to Dark Souls.
I have to say a hearty thanks to Certis and others on the podcast who have championed games like Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls. I probably wouldn't have persisted with those games without the enthusiasm shown on the podcast and I've had literally hundreds of hours of incredible entertainment out of those games and others.
At this rate I may even have to try the Metal Gear Solid series.

I was intrigued by the description of the original Chaos. Never having had a Spectrum computer, I have no familiarity with it, but it sounded like it had some shared ideas with Archon: Adept which I played on the C-64. In that game you also had Order vs Chaos and a balance between them, and you played a mage that summoned monsters to fight. I looked it up on Wikipedia and it looks like Archon: Adept predates Chaos by 1 year. Nothing against Mr. Gollop (I am a HUGE XCOM fan) but just curious how much cross-pollination there was there.

This is the Rev3 interview Adam Sessler did at GDC last year with Jake Solomon and Julian Gollop. Really good!
Well put.

I'll admit I giggled at that moment in the podcast.

Oh snap!
Strangely enough, I find TF2 and other FPS streams to be FAR more watchable than RTS games. Nothing bores me more than watching a League of Legends or Starcraft 2 game, but I'll never get bored of watching TF2 matches.
I enjoy both but I love watching pro Call of Duty players run amok in deathmatch mode.
I kept asking myself that the whole podcast.
