Re: PS4 rumors...

* Orbis really invokes memories of the PlayStation 9 ad for some reason
* The authorization key idea I remember was a rumor from at least a year ago after either the PSN hack or when some of the Blu-Ray keys leaked out.

The only part of the rumor that's really compelling to me is the x64 chip from AMD, but that's mostly because it sounds like that might be an easier architecture to program than Cell. But it's contrary to Sony's engineering track record and IBM seems to be the favorite CPU builder for consoles lately. It also seems like a big waste of R&D resources to toss out Cell instead of building a new iteration.

EDIT: Also, I never noticed this before... but is it just me or does Rob sound a lot like Chris Kohler?

I guess there's a chance AMD's Bulldozer architecture might make some sense for the PS4 - highly modular, many cores and execution units and something that you could eke a lot of performance out with CPU-specific code. I'd be surprised, though.

Kind of like the Cell? Sounds right up Sony's alley.

Regarding "iterating":

Iterative development is a software development process where a product is gradually developed and improved through a repetitive process. This concept is an integral part of a lot of popular software development methodologies. In the context of video game development, using "iterating" to describe the process of improving an existing feature is perfectly valid.

If Sony made PSP backwards compatibility such a big feature for the Vita, wouldn't they do the same with the PS4? Downloadable PS3 titles, and such? Or would a switch to AMD from their unique processor make things difficult?

The real difficulty with it is that THE RUMOR IS SO MUCH BULLsh*t.

Sorry, what I meant to type was LOL KOTAKU YOU SO CRAY-CRAY.

Ahem, sorry. It's probably the AMD thing.

Sorry.

At this point, I'd probably wouldn't believe Kotaku if they told me that water is wet.

If they ever do, I promise to launch a Kickstarter to develop Dihydrogen Monoxide, a spiritual successor to water.

I wish I could go to pax and snatch Rabbit's blazer. I'm pretty much a ninja.

If someone actually steals my Blazer, I will buy them a drink. Ripping it off me bodily doesn't count. Only grabbing it if I've taken it off to look suave.

Well my, nothing like having a bunch of guys tell you off while travelling across Pennsylvania!

We'll try our best to be at the panel on Friday guys!

Wait, you can buy console EA games from Origin? Is Shawn the Canadian one? Is this a thing that works in Canada?

Yep and yep. Worked fine for me. Took about six days.

Well how do you like that.

On another note, I've been listening to the CC for 3 years—one day I'll have it worked out which S[ea|haw]n is which. I think I need an episode that's just the two of them, so I can get their respective voices drilled into my brain.

I'm the one that does the intros and says all the smart, witty things.

Hot damn!! Hopefully they have a newsletter or something I can sign up for so that when deals show up, I can jump on them if I want the game.

Shawn is the Canadian one. You can tell by his oh, so sexy voice and all-around kindness.

Sean is the American one. He is also a cyborg who hates people, or at least playing games with people.

And my axe!

You know... for the whole bug testing of Wasteland 2 thingie.

Awww. Thanks for the birthday wishes, guys. I would have heard this yesterday but I went back to listen to the ME3 spoiler section.

It took me a couple of years to figure the out too. Hint: when the snark index gets above 5, it's American Sean. As others have noted, when the kindness index goes above...well, 1, that's Canadian Shawn.

I hardly ever post here so I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that in this community like with the Beatles you're required to have your favorite S(haw)(ea)n. Mr. Sands does keep me laughing on a regular basis but I'm a sucker for Andrich's calm considered opinions delivered in that dreamy baritone.

Certis, your sock puppet is showing.

I may be stretching the rules slightly here, but you left your blazer at my house after PAX Prime 2010. Which I reckon means you owe me a drink

Allen?

You are correct sir.

At least he spells his name the right way

Anyone else in line for the panel right now?

Bwaahahahahahahaa! Nice one, Cory.

And you were also spot on correct in that Certis should dump the single player campaign and head over to the real game in SSX. By now I imagine he's done that, but it's where the real magic is. He was trying to use logic to explain why he wanted to waste more of his life in the campaign and you should've shot him down harder. SSX defies logic!!!

You missed one.

I'm very bored at work today. I apologize.

Can anyone point to the YouTube tutorial videos for Crusader Kings that were mentioned? Actually, I'm more interested in the EU3 videos, but I'd love to know who produces these.
