Alan's lisp hurts my ears. =P

1995 was a good year. Doom 2, Command and Conquer, Warcraft, Sim City 2000, I got laid for the first time... all in all an era worth revisiting. Playing Doom 2 with my computer hooked up to an Aiwa shelf stereo system and cranking the volume UP so that the shotgun blast scared the other students in my dorm... yeah that was fun.

Of course, when EverQuest came out, playing that game and being a part of that weird community of gamers was pretty unique too. And that game got me laid a couple times so... yay.

There are some games that get to the point of being boring, but I still play because I am past the point of no return and want to see it through to the end. The second Call of Juarez game was that way, as was Wolfenstein. They were good games, but as they hit they got past the half way points, something was lost and it became more of a chore to just get them over with. What's up with that?

What's this "I used to be a huge nerd like that" stuff? There is no "used to" going on around here. We're all huge nerds. It's ok.

Holy hell, Project 99? No, leave that game in the past. It was a horrible, unforgiving game at the time, but we loved it because we had nothing else to compare it to. Now, it would just be like staring into the darkness. Anyone nostalgic for the sound effects from EQ1 can just play EQ2. Same sound effects, far better game.

The funny thing about Windows 7 (and even Vista) is that it does not require much maintenance. That saddens me, because for me part of the fun of PC gaming is doing all the patching and updating. To just turn it on and start playing a game? Well that's just silly.

Is that a lisp? I thought it was just his Kentucky accent.

Thanks for the lead JonCole, I'm looking into it right now.

Speaking of overlooked "easy buttons", I just recently found out that STALKER has hotkeys for using bandages and medkits. No more messing around with the inventory screen while under fire for me!

I did that with Dead Space. It wasn't until my second playthrough that I discovered the button for using medkits. My first time through, I'd out-maneuvered enemies while opening the inventory.
