I will be completely and totally shocked if those maps aren't available as DLC sometime after release - possibly even very very shortly after release, but for a fee.

I do get everyone's points. But I still understand why they're doing it - to encourage people to be first-time buyers, not renters and re-buyers.

Seriously! Commando was adequate, but not even in the top 5. Best Star Wars shooter is probably Jedi Knight 2, though Jedi Academy actually makes a fairly compelling case.

And by Jedi Knight 2, you do of course mean Dark Forces:Jedi Knight, correct? Not Star Wars Quake. Nothing beats the level design and multiple play modes (left entirely to the player) of the second game. Especially not the one hit kill, slice down everything that moves version Raven put out.

Ah, i didn't know about that. In that case the RB 2 free 20 songs is more similar to the sports game i mention above. You'd never be kicked from a server when those songs came up (because that's not the way it works) and you might be able to download/buy them as DLC later on. It doesn't affect your ability to play the game.

But what happens when you want to play those songs online with other people who don't have them?

I hadn't heard that the RB2 songs are a one time thing.

I don't think you can - though i'm not sure. But then you wouldn't start a session with those songs i'm guessing. It's not like an MP server were you cycle through a number of maps.

I used to be pretty good at GoldenEye and I absolutely kicked ass at the THQ wrestling games on the N64.

I think he meant Jedi Knight 2, the third Kyle Katarn game. It went Dark Forces, Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight, Jedi Knight 2, Jedi Academy. Not a confusing naming scheme at all. And I only played the demo, but I don't think the last one had Katarn in it at all.

Yep, it was the 20 bonus tracks for Rock Band 2 (which have been announced now) that I was getting at -- they definitely sound like a one-time thing. I can understand that the Gears 2 maps would be a pain if you wanted to play some multiplayer and got kicked out because you didn't have them, but if you're renting it, or picking it up cheap second-hand in six months time, then you're probably not going to be playing a whole bunch of multiplayer anyway, and it'll work just fine if you do decide to play the odd game.
