Demi IS an adult, and he needs you too.

My ONLY point is (and its only because I'm being argumentative) that there is, i think, a substantial group of games journalists out there who abhor the idea of game ratings, and if forced, will try very hard to bell curve at 5 (or 2.5 stars or whatever).

Join the party on the life-thing. I'm sorry - I'm embarassed about that post now. I just want to say that curve issue is exactly what I was talking about. And there are way too many words in the world already tagged to that for me to add to them today.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Totally agree about Uncharted. That one's got a lot of potential. Assuming it pans out that'll be one of six awesome games necessary to sell me the system. The standards is five games, but dang the pricepoint requires extra incentive.

I get where you're coming from on Nintendo Power. That original cover with the clay Wart and Mario is a classic.

I never got Nintendo Power magazine, but I did get its predecessor: Nintendo Fan Club News (yes, the title is awesome)

Yea I used an over the top example or group of examples to demonstrate what I was trying to say. And yes I came off Fanboi-ish on purpose, though I did warn you in that post.

My mistake, I'll attempt to you less extravagant and wild examples to defend my points in future debates. I'll just chalk it all up to being my mistake by misunderstanding the original context of the comment in the podcast. So yea my mistake. Mine. Uno de mistako :)

I'm totally not convinced that you think the fault was all on you. In order to prove your true intention, donate $200 to GWJ and everyone can call it even.

You're next on the hugz list.

The Riddick game was awesome, it's one of the few FPSes I've finished in the past few years and actually enjoyed. GREAT game.

I liked the show, it's like everyone had PMS this time or something.

You need Mike Godwin. Especially with the amount of times his Law has been violated lately. This is the second thread in a week, for Pete's sake.

Halo 3 - It's definitely a beta. It's a technology test beta, but a beta nonetheless.

Starcraft 2 - It'll come out when it's done; my guess is late Q3 or early Q4 of 08.

Half Life 2: I think pulling the black box was a crappy ploy, even if I was going to buy the orange box. Since, yanno, I still don't have HL2.(pulls on a flameretardant suit)

Sigil - Yea, this was pretty screwed up. It happens and life moves on. It won't be the first time Sony took a hit for goofing something up, probably won't be the last.

Nintendo Power - I'm with momgamer on this one. I love NP, always have and always will. As for game ratings, there are so many overblown games getting way overrated it's ridiculous. It's coming back around, but I think that'll take some time. The industry is way too used to getting fluffed at this point.

Looking forward to next week though

I was able to play some four-player co-op Aegis Wings last weekend, with all of us in the same room. It is quite easy to waste away an hour or more due to its simplicity and potential for replayability when done in a co-op situation. Not to mention, it's free.

First of dudes, I'm from Chicago. I worked for a while in London and studied for a semester at Cambridge, but I'm pretty American. I can even get a drawl going if I'm drunk.

Secondly, I made another big post on the "good" RP thread. I apologize that I was so vague in the prompt, but I think I was trying to trick people into admitting that they don't play very complex characters, since my gut reaction to someone playing a "lawful good" is that they're not very imaginative or good at role playing. I could say the same thing about my desire to play more Han Solos, though. Also, there are some real good RP concepts around lawful good, such as holier than thou clerics who won't heal your character because you haven't been a good boy this year.

And finally, I don't like RTS games. I liked Close Combat, though.

It strikes me as odd to compare StarCraft 2 to C&C3 when, man, the StarCraft 2 gameplay video looks almost exactly like StarCraft 1. Except 3D and some new units. The style is the same, the returning units look basically identical.

I'm an RTS philistine, but how different are most RTS games, really? Gather (resource), build base, build units, attack?

Dawn of War and CoH doesn't have the resource gathering aspect.

On the show we compared the execution from established 2D franchise to a new 3D engine with a similar look, not the gameplay. Kind of hard to do when you can't play the game yet

Hm, okay, fair enough. I guess I didn't pick up on that.

Umm, was the engine all built from scratch?
