About the number of units at launch time for the PS3 being larger the those of the 360, what was the number of units for the 360?

I'm surprised the show notes don't inlcude that bit about "picking on Rabbit."

Heh.

Agreed on many of the points regarding Saints Row. It is actually much better than I expected. I do miss Motorcycles, bicycles, boats, and aircraft though.

And shooting gas tanks. Why oh why can't you shoot gas tanks?

In all it feels like a "new" GTA 3. A fantastic concept that can be built upon for a few iterations until completely solid.

Some features I'd like to see in the next one:
Bikes, boats, and aircraft
More weapon selection
Dodging and Rolling
Online Co-Op
Bullet wound decals on NPCS
More car customization (Turbos, superchargers, mounted weapons (oil slicks, spike strips))

I'm sure I'll think of more... In any case, great episode folks, keep em comin'!

I also would like to know because from what I recall, MS shipped more consoles than Sony is planning. There were 600K for US, 200K for Japan and 400K for UK... which is not really accurate but as far as I recall so don't quote me on it. Either way... more or less consoles, it's still not enough I think to even cover the hardcore crowd and with Ebayer, it's going to get even worse.

In fact, I addressed 360 launch numbers just yesterday because I was curious too. Check it!

Hate to burst your bubble, but Splinter Cell Double Agent does not in fact have co-op in any form on 360. On the past gen version (Xbox, PS2) there is co-op but it is split screen only. Very dissapointing to me, I had a blast with it in Chaos Theory.

Yay me, my first mention on the call.

What?!

Sounds good, but what kind of Multiplayer are we going to get? Will the Versus be back?

Yep, the Versus will be back, however you won't see the Argus Mercs again, instead you'll have to fight 3 VS 3 (optional) that means 3 Spies VS 3 Upsilion Forces (like the Mercs) but the SvM Versus will not be available on all Systems. Current-Gen Gamers are going to get the Spy VS Spy Multiplayer. More about all of that later in this FAQ.

You've mentioned SCCT's very innovative Coop part, can we expect to see it's return in Double Agent?

Yes and no. Actually Coop will be part of the game, however while on the "current gen" plattforms (like the XBox for example), it'll be the same it has been in SCCT, the "next gen" versions (XBox360 / PC) will only get a Coop sub-mode. That means it's only a portion of the Spies VS Mercenaries mode. You'll be able to take on 3 Upsilion Forces (AI driven) with 2 of your friends but it won't come with it's own story like in SCCT.

Damn next-gen feature hacking. Argh!

Anyone else having problems with the podcast? My copy, downloaded automatically from iTunes, cuts off at 29:08 right as Certis is talking about he doesn't think he'll play with his Wii by himself (lucky dog).

Hmmmm...if I go to GWJ Conference Call in the iTunes Podcast directly and download this specific episode, I get the full podcast. It's the automatic one that had the problem and "Refresh" in iTunes didn't solve the problem.

Just FYI.

Thanks booty, I'll look into it. Anyone else having an issue?

Check it!

After the initial shipment of 400,000 units to North America, 800,000 more are planned to be shipped by the end of the year, bringing the total to 1.2 million consoles in 2006. Sony also claims another 1.2 million units will be available in Japan soon after the initial 100,000 units launch.

So by the end of this year Japan will get some more consoles than the US. But even then the 1.2 million for the US is more than the 900k 360's on 2005. Thanks for the info Certis.

I think you misread the article, boysetsfire. It states 1.2 million in North America _and_ 1.2 million more in Japan for a total of 2.4 million worldwide.

I have serious doubts about Sony's ability to come anywhere near these numbers.

Great show. I really like hearing about upcoming titles. I guess we don't hear it very often because there hasn't been too many note worthy titles to talk about. I hope we are on the upswing now.

Isn't giving one's sister your GBA technically re-gifting?

Heh.

That was a special easter egg, for the fans

Good show guys!

I have to agree. Seriously doubting Sony can produce that many more units by the end of the year. But I suppose we'll have to wait and see anyways. Either way, I doubt any lack of production numbers will lead to the death of the platform.

You guys didn't mention Crackdown. :<

Indeed! Not to mention that it will have co-op over xLive!

I sure hope you guys keep playing saints row. The gangster talk should become a conference call staple.

There were several games we didn't mention and I am sure that one just slipped through the cracks for us. We didn't want that section of the show to run several hours.

I've only just now gotten around to listening to the show despite downloading it on the day, but mine also cuts off around the 28 minute mark.

I'm re-downloading it now. I'll edit this with a note if it works afterwards.

It was entertaining for the first half hour though

*It works fine after redownloading. Good show!*

The only game I know I'm looking forward to that got no mention is Rainbow Six: Vegas. In reality though, I understand skipping over that one perfectly. Anyone that's interested in it is more than likely to already know it's coming out soon anyway.
