Pushmo World

The dust of E3 has finally settled, leaving many of us looking at our game libraries with a heavy sigh. Yeah, we have lots of great games on our piles or in our Steam lists, but those titles are, like, two months old. Maybe even three! Who wants to play aging tripe like that when you have bigger, better, higher-resolution titles on the horizon!

The games industry does not seem eager to satiate our hunger for the illusion of new and fresh experiences, and thus we're drip fed a selection of what I can only think of as filler titles. Violently embrace other men in the sweatiest hug imaginable in EA Sports UFC or kick some tires and take to the tracks in Moto GP 14.

Yet in my constant efforts to usurp the typical expectations of you lot, I'm going to have to give the week to Pushmo World. I'm a rebel like that, preferring a cute and cuddly variant of Catherine's twisted puzzle-solving, block-shifting gameplay available for a system that the games press would have you believe no one owns.

For the rest of you, I imagine it's a good week to continue progress on your pile, or perhaps to sleeplessly eye your monitor whilst refreshing Steam to check if the sale has started yet, or maybe read a book, spend time with the family, climb a mountain, fight a dragon, sunder the universe, etc. A typical Tuesday, if you will.

I don't know what you're talking about.

Chris would never know that because he posts these things from his console browser.

Our usual source for release info took the week off (and I don't mean Sands). We're, uh, having to rely on other sources.

Another World looks interesting, but I don't have a WiiU. The only thing I'm probably buying this week is Battle Princess of Arcadias.

If I relied on Wikipedia there'd only be three games up there.

I have notoriously terrible Google Fu, but MetaCritic was the most comprehensive I was able to find on such short notice. I'm pretty sure a piece of my soul withered away every second I had the tab open.

It's...er....been around for a while

Oh look, Pro Cycling Manager Season 2014: Le Tour de France has been out since 2010.

Battle Princess of Arcadias looks similar to Odin Sphere, but then I found out that Odin Sphere can be bought on PSN and played on the PS3 and apparently they fixed the slowdown omg hurray. Although from what someone else said it seems that that's only fixed in the PAL version maybe?

Then I found out it apparently looks even better on the pcsx2 emulator and I still have the disc, so, maybe I'll finish it this time (I only completed Gwen's chapter and maybe the one after-either way I'm starting from the beginning).

Battle Princess of Arcadias got pretty bad reviews over in Japan, so it's something I'm going to stay away from for the time being.

I wholeheartedly approve of Pushmo World as the pick of the week.

Yeah, I even purchased the 15th anniversary edition 5 years ago, and will probably buy the 25th as well. Absolute classic BTW.

Looks like Xenonauts went live on Tuesday. THAT would've been my game of the week. A faithful XCom remake. I'm in.

No linux version, so I'd rather have it on consoles than on Steam. I know it's been around, but I try to not buy things at this point unless they're Linux, PS4, or PSVita. They have to be absolutely phenomenal and absolutely never coming to one of those platforms for me to buy them on any other platforms. (Like Galactic Civilizations 3, or Persona 5.)
