Love these vids

I like the format of the experienced guy playing along with someone who's new to the game, asking and answering a lot of the questions I'm thinking about myself.

Definitely agree with this and all the complements on this thread.

The only suggestion I have for those of us with precious little time on our hands is... can the videos be a tad shorter? I know the shorter they are, the harder they are to make, but I'll be honest that the 30-minute runtime came close to dissuading me from hitting play.

I think that this kind of preview is perfect.

This has significantly more meat than any trailer or gameplay video. At the same time, not as much idle time, or uninteresting gameplay, or sidetrack conversation as more lengthy play along type videos.

There is also some value to NOT having devs. or reps along to give the schpeel.

You guys have a way to review things with just enough peripheral conversation. I have difficulty with the "blabber out loud with your friends" type of podcasts. I had to unsubscribe to giant bomb, because I don't give a sh*t which furniture they moved on the weekend. I've been scouring the internet, to no avail, to find something like your podcast format that I can supplement my GWJ listening with. Something which strikes that similar delicate balance of distilled opinion, "grown-up lifestyle" type conversation, and games industry news and opinions.

The evolution of the podcast to include video is an extraordinary step. I look forward to more of these.

In my perfect world, the podcast becomes a video news show which keeps up your tradition of poignant conversation, but you make it available to download as either just audio, or with video. That way we can stream while working visually, and just listen along, without spending the extra bandwidth, or tune in fully during lunch.

Edit. I put my comment in the Catch All Thread.

I totally second this. I've listened to a number of "gaming podcasts" on the internet now, and the GWJ is the one that I always come back to because of the professionalism, great pacing (moving along, but allowing for lengthy discussions of certain games), overall format (games being played and then a big topical point), and the friendly banter/camaraderie that's apparent.

I also love the idea of more casual videos like this one. Keep up the work, guys.

Back on topic, this has allayed some of my concerns about Dishonored after playing it at PAX. I think it was just a really bad environment to demo a slower paced game like this. I had people breathing down my neck waiting to take over my station and I was struggling with the console controls. Good to know that once you really get into the game it still holds up.

I had a similar experience with the game last month at the Eurogamer Expo. Although people weren't breath down my neck, I felt a bit thrown into the game and didn't really enjoy it. Watching this has made me reconsider my initial stance.

To me this is a great way to showcase a game that I'm considering buying. A written review or typical video preview doesn't capture the experience of a play-session to me. Having Elysium there to ask questions really helped me get the feel of the game.

Guys, I planned on waiting on this game... I hate you all... I've been enabled.

Maybe these segments should be called "GWJ Enables." You've gotten me to jump off the fence.

Have to agree with these guys... I was going to wait it out, and grab it on import. $60 import, $90 at my local EB.

Just saw it at a local Superstore chain for $68. Add one more to the pile

I love the format by the way. Perfect. As Ghostship said, you always manage to tap that perfect balance between banter and information. It was like we were all sitting on Shawn's couch as he showed us a level before we headed out to 'do other stuff'.

I love how 'transparent' the drive is in this respect.

My wallet is afraid to check out the XCOM video feature now.

Just about any coverage of XCOM is in danger of enabling me on XCOM. The only reason I'm resisting at the moment is because I know it would take over my life. I'm going to have to find a time when I can lose a week or two to it's horrible, horrible charms.
