If you're a long time visitor to Gamers With Jobs, you may remember that before the Conference Call we had another podcast called GWJ Radio. It was hosted by Russ Pitts and myself. Since then, Russ has sat on the iron throne at The Escapist and now he's joined Vox Media for their new video game site venture.
A few months ago Russ approached me about starting a new podcast and I was happy to do it. Asleep at the Keyboard is incredibly informal and while we do talk games we also range along a wide breadth of other topics like life, guns and running off to live in the woods and never coming back. Russ has also had great guests like Chuck Wendig, Graham Stark and some yahoo named Cory Banks. Check it out!

Wow. Thirteen episodes deep already. Will give it a listen.
How did I live before digital distribution of old, cheap games?

I was thinking the same. I'm three behind on the CC, but this sounds well worth it. Especially since I gravitate toward the EE forum, this sounds like a great fit for me.

I will partake of this hot Shawn-on-Russ-on-Cory action.
Wait-wait-wait-wait-wait. Jussssst wait. Eagle Semen? Are you kidding me? Forget my journalistic ethics, thoughts of research and a measured response. I'm just gonna love False Gravity and Asleep at the Keyboard as hard as I can.
Last time I checked, this wasn't available in the Zune marketplace. Any plans to put it up there?

Actually, that'd be fun to make.
The episode I did with Russ was some of the most fun I've had on a podcast. I'd love to do it again (Though I think I've been taken off Gamer Grub's mailing list for it).

I've been enjoying AAK since it came out. I enjoy the informal style/lack of structure, it is a nice departure from my regular/more structured podcast mix. I especially enjoyed the episode about Desert Bus and the episode with Mr. McElroy.
It seems to me to be more of a living your life while being a gamer type of podcast.
Definitely worth a listen!
More podcasts, and this one has Russ Pitts too? I'm in. Thanks for the heads up.

It's fun to hear you guys talk in a more informal way; shooting the sh*t as it were.
I keep meaning to check this out. Thanks for the reminder!
Shill, shill!!
Actually, I like this one, as well as Striving. Keep up the good work, Shawn!
You bastard, Tanglebones. :)

I need a Zune feed, too! Since Mango, I listen to all of my podcasts via my Windows Phone.
AAK is also the one podcast where you can still hear Podunk Stomp from time to time.
AAK is basically my GWJ Conference Call B-side... more of the same stuff that I love.
Yeah, I guess that Podunk Stomp is alright. Los Pistoleros though, that's what I'm talking about!

I'll give this a shot.
I'm wondering why the GWJ crew hasn't taken the podcast a step further (even though I know the answer I think...its a casual thing for them). It's one of the best discussion on games in the media including topping Reviews on the Run, Attack of the Show, and others. But they would have to produce it on some channel that would let them keep the edge and flow. Maybe the playboy channel...then I can tell my partner that I just watch it for the articles.
I burn through the GWJ podcast every week on my commutes. I haven't found another podcast that comes close to it yet but am still searching to fill the dead air. If the GWJ podcast was three hours per week it will fill the gap. But unfortunately they strive for brevity.
Hopefully AAK will fill some of that dead air!
Very kind words foil, thanks! GWJ on the Playboy channel would be hilarious.

AAK is pretty delicious. Keep up the good work, Russ.
He doesn't wonder, he wanders. Although he might wonder when wandering. But not enough to make it his name. Wandering is a primary skill.
