April 11 - April 15

Section:

With Portal 2 looming, there’s not much reason to dedicate your time or precious cash to one of this week’s offerings. Looking at the release schedule for the next few days, most of the production and distribution big-wigs are on the same page. We’re seeing quite a few niche music games pop up that, while they may not break the bank, are likely designed to be good pickup titles to have for a rainy day (or uneventful trip with your relatives).

If you absolutely do have a compulsion to visit your local game shop, avoid the franchise cash-ins (Man vs. Wild and Rio) and head straight for more Patapon goodness. If you’re more into dynasties, Dance Dance Revolution makes a non-Kinect comeback on the 360, and Michael Jackson: The Experience offers you a chance to flub your way through the King of Pop’s dance repertoire.

At home, you’ll find some decent DLC. Killzone 3 gets an add-on, while Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes finds a home on both PSN and XBLA. And on the PC, my pick for Game of the Week comes in the form of an add-on campaign, Magicka: Vietnam, which places the four mages from the original quest in a slightly less mythic setting.

PC
-- Magicka: Vietnam
-- Elements of War
-- World of Tanks

360
-- Dance Dance Revolution
-- Michael Jackson: The Experience
-- Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes
-- Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga
-- Man vs. Wild
-- Rio

PS3
-- Killzone 3: Steel Rain
-- Michael Jackson: The Experience
-- Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes
-- Dungeon Hunter: Alliance
-- Man vs. Wild
-- Rio

PSP
-- Patapon 3

NDS
-- LEGO Battles: Ninjago
-- Squinkies

Wii
-- Spongebob Squigglepants
-- Man vs. Wild
-- Rio

I'm intrigued by Dungeon Hunter: Alliance. My buddy and I have been waiting for a good console action RPG to relive our MANY hours spent in Baldurs Gate: DA. Looks like it might fit the bill.

WOOO patapon 3!!!

Patapon 3 already?!? I still haven't finished the first one!

Right there with ya buddy. Although my PSP doesn't see the light of day often so that's probably why...

I'd buy Magicka: Vietnam if they'd ever properly fixed the first game. Really enjoyed it, despite the bugs, but they dropped it way too soon. It's outright broken at the moment, and they seem to have stopped patching it. You can't even play through the singleplayer campaign right now.

I never played Ego Draconis but typically love long, windy RPGs. Suffice it to say the new Divinity II release intrigues me. Can anyone comment on how it plays on 360 versus the PC? Are things nicely patched up and playable now?

seem to need to try it, and maybe this will be more interesting

Really? I haven't completed the single-player - where did you get bugged out? After the patch with the "Crash to Desktop" Magick, it has been working great for me.

I've been waiting to try out Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes.

I think it's going to be the litmus test that says whether I'm finally done with that kind of puzzle game.

Make sure in Magicka: Vietnam that the hooker you bang early on doesn't turn around and try to snipe you later in the movie.

I picked up the Magicka pack steam had on sale and I'm looking forward to getting to it once I replace my busted video card (magicka busted it btw lol).
