November 29 - December 3

Apologies for the late Monday start. My tryptophan coma lingered tragically through the holiday weekend, and I am finally rousing myself from a long late-autumn nap like an under-achieving Rip Van Winkle. This is, of course, all untrue and obviously baseless as tryptophan is more abundant in both milk and sesame seeds than in turkey, and I don't go around collapsing into a helpless heap every time I get a glass of milk, but the real story is substantially less interesting.

Regardless, the artificial inflation of word count above is really just a smoke screen for the fact that this week's Game of the Week is pretty much a fait accompli. Despite it's slightly arrogant naming convention, Epic Mickey is the easy pick for the not-at-all-coveted prize of GotW. With promises of weep-worthy storytelling, and the loving hand of Warren Spector at the helm, there is little reason to look anywhere else, even if there was a worthy contender from the release list, which I hasten to point out there's really not.

Hello Kitty was robbed!

Anyone else preorder Chevrolet Camero?

I could see Golden Sun outdoing Mickey...but other than that, slim week.

EDIT: WOO! Office Linebacker promotion post!

Thank god it's a slow week, I have so many games to catch up on

I think the most pressing question here is: Sean, do you actually drink glasses of milk in your adult life?

I did too, but mainly just to get the preorder bonus content, alloy wheels and rear defogger. I also think there's an achievement based around the defogger, and I'm a completionist, so.

I'll see you in a few hours at the midnight release.

The Mustang is better priced and has the edge in gas mileage...

...oh, wrong website.

I'm betting the real story involves Corona somehow.

Yeah, I watched the Giant Bomb Quick Look, and it looked like a competent 3D platformer / action-adventure game, but not exactly something to wet one's pants over. Anyone who's gotten some hands-on time with it is free to correct me if I'm wrong. I'll probably get around to checking it out in a couple months when it becomes possible to get it through Gamefly.

I tend to prefer games that have apostrophes in the title. Nail'd it is!

I'm actually interested in hearing how Epic Mickey turned out. Did Warren Spector sell us out for Oswald the Rabbit?

At least we don't need him for Deus Ex 3. (Please be good, please be good...)

Of course he does. Warm glasses, no less.

He probably even calls them "lattes", or some such, to disguise their true form.

Sean is a Wisconsinite. Of course he does. And you should too, if you can handle it. It's good for you.

Didn't Certis have a lovely conversation about Epic Mickey with Mr. Spector at PAX?

Seconded.

If it was good enough for Mr. T, it's good enough for me.

Interested in Golden Sun but that'll have to wait until I have the funds.

I watched the quick look as well and decided to hold off until I read more first hand impressions. I can definitely wait for a price drop.

From what I've read so far it sounds like Epic Mickey actually does present a lot of interesting story stuff and good, game-altering choices, and it's in the gameplay where it falters. Complaints about camera controls and slowdown abound.

Still, Deus Ex had its gameplay problems too. I'll definitely check it out.

Warren Spector gushed so much about it on 1Up podcast, he started coming across positively fake at the end of it, especially with The Second Coming Of Oswald, which all kids the world over have been waiting for for the last 80 years or so. If this is not a tell-tale sign of an overhyped disaster, I don't know what is.

They made another Deadliest Catch game? I guess it must have sold enough to justify it.

It is not called Chevrolet Camaro but Camaro Wild Ride.

Get it right Elysium.

Psychonauts beat out Ford Mustang in April of 2005. Coincidence? I think not.

Spector and Schafer names both start with S and end with r. They have the same number of letters.

Still think it is a coincidence that their games beat out Camaro and Mustang?

The list just reminds me that I still need to finish the first Golden Sun and maybe get the second one. (I know I'm late ^^)
