October 25 - October 29

It's that week of the year. The week where you might be able to identify $200 or even $300 worth of games that you could buy. Force Unleashed II, Fable III, Lego Universe, Dragon Age Ultimate, Tony Hawk, Sims 3 and, oh yeah, Rock Band 3. Strange as it may seem in a year so dense with a solid release schedule, this week still exists where the are more games than there are hours in the day to play them.

And, it's awesome!

I'm not going to pretend that there was ever any other Game of the Week for this week except Rock Band 3. I am nothing if not stubbornly single-minded about such things. That said, I am increasingly attracted by Fable III and I am hopeful that the Force Unleashed II can build on the promise of the first. Either way, if you get through this week without spending a dime on games, then you are a stronger, better person than I.

The funny part is I think this is the second time this month I've fixed the same typo. Maybe he's trying to tell us something. Move to Orange County?

Overclocking?

Oxycontin??

Organized crime?!?

A disturbing trend.

And here I went looking for the other post to make that comment earlier, but I guess you nonja edited it.

Too cool for school.

What song from RB3 can we force Demiurge to sing on camera?

This past weekend I spent 2000 space bucks (on my way to 2400 to get back 800) on Super Meat Boy and Costume Quest. I'm very much enjoying both games, so I will be passing on this week's games.

Oh, don't worry, Elysium. I'm sure that Fable III's continued iteration and risky design isn't very interesting compared to Yet Another Plastic Instrument Game. Though really you should have given GOTW to the obvious winner: Smackdown VS. RAW.

Please not Roundabout. I love Yes too much to have them sullied like that.

For RB3, I am sticking with the existing instruments for the time being. Maybe after Christmas I will get the keyboard. No way will I get the pro guitar, that thing would just laugh at me! I rarely get above medium difficulty anyway, so just the regular game will suit me fine.

I can't imagine anyone being able to properly sing Roundabout. It's kind of hard to replicate that not-quite-girly-but-just-girly-enough voice right.

I'm still waiting on my power metal when it comes to Rock Band, though. The new Guitar Hero almost had me with like three custom tracks from Dave Mustain, but then I saw the entire song list and was like "eugh. Not worth it".

But that RB3 has Yes and Chicago and sh*t, that's pretty bad ass.

Me thinks bellb770 meant to post this in some WoW thread?

Only game I kinda want this week is Fable 3. But MS doesn't want my money for some reason (aka. where is the PC version...).

Actually I want DeathSpank as well, but Xmas Steam Sale exists for a reason.

Or he's a spambot? That looks like random gibberish to me, but I don't play WoW so maybe it makes more sense to others...

True, it's probably spam. In fact it's been removed.

Not to say this weeks games aren't interesting, but I got my Civ 5 and New Vegas. Those were my #1 and #2 so I'm good for the rest of the year...
*cough* steam sale *cough*

Maybe Certis?

Same here. I think 80 new songs, and finally importing old songs on the Wii will be enough to tide me over for weeks/months until the keyboard thing is released or on sale or whatever.

Hell I still don't have a drum set, although I have multiple guitars and microphones. I've tried drums at friends' houses and I just suck. Seems like money wasted. Hopefully one of my nearby friends will grab a keyboard before me and I can try before I buy on that too.

Yeah. I never thought I'd find myself crossing my fingers on the way to a job interview humming "Come ooooon employment! Let's get Daddy the income for a new pair of shoes!"

Or in my case, a new iteration of Fable.

To be fair, you could fasion a rudimentary pair of footware from the box it comes in. Two birds with one stone?

Eh, the boxes these days are too small for anyone with normal sized feet. Limited editions on the other hand...

Anyway, nothing for me this week software-wise. New PC is on the way and there's a whole pile of backlog waiting for it.

I'm tweaked by Lego Universe. I'm a Mindstorms FanBoi and the ability to build AND program online is almost to hard to resist.

Put off by the kids-pitch, though. Anyone know if it has more depth than seems to be apparent on the web site?

I have the drum set for Guitar Hero World Tour. I don't know if they work or not, guess I'll try them out and see. Don't really want two sets of drums sitting around taking up space.

It's clearly not a typo this month, because it's ROCKtober.

I was watching my roommate tinker with the new RB3 keyboard, and he was running through some of the new tracks. I was amazed at how many genuinely fun songs are on the new game. I think there are going to be a lot more people at the mic during our next Rock Band party, because really, who doesn't know the lyrics to Power of Love?

RB2 supported the GH:WT drums, and Harmonix have traditionally been very accomodating when it comes to instrument compatability (RB2 supported *every* legacy controller from earlier GH or RB games).

*waves Google wand*

Yup - RB3 supports everything.

Last night, after I sang "Imagine" and then "Power of Love":

Wife: You mess around singing "Imagine" like that Korean kid, but you sing "Power of Love" seriously?

Me: What? I wasn't singing "Power of Love" seriously, I was still having fun!

RB3: VOCAL MASTERY UNLOCKED.

Me: ...Okay, maybe I was feeling it.
