Holy lists, Batman!

I'm thinking that I may not win.

The odds are still better than the lottery.

1 chance out of 399 for grand prize
I like them odds.

But a single person could buy more than one "ticket" as I recall.

Risk is mine!

True =P

Note to self: don't go to Vegas with BadMojo.

Hmm, not on the list despite already sending in info to Elysium. Second e-mail sent.

I've traveled into the future, and I know who will win the draw.

Me.

PonderOmega? It's PoderOmega. It was right before, and now is wrong?

My fault, really. Elysium sends me his list, then I apply the tags I've done to it and fix typos along the way. Then he sends me a new, updated list and I forget to apply the typo fixes. That's why we see these little fluctuations, but everyone who's on the list will be fine, typos or not

Eh, worse chance is one in 1600, assuming everyone except yourself got the full four entries (I think it's four for $75+), which is still a damned site better than the lotto. And hell, if you're just thinking about any prize I suppose it's still 1:400 or better since there are four or more prizes.

For some reason that math doesn't seem right to me but I can't pin down why.

Me.

I have also traveled into the future and your lifetime supply of hard boiled eggs is an excellent counterpoint to all those that win pathetic prizes like The Forced Unleashed. I for one am hoping for the toaster oven.

I saw you in the future. Emerged from the storm, you banged in the door of my bunker and yelled something about giant rats. Then your grip on the door broke, and, with a yelp, you vanished into darkness.

But that was a slightly later future.

But they were Rabid Squirrels not rats.

That's what they tell everyone.

Just having the honor of supporting this collective madness makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Oh no! I've dropped off the list! I'm sorry for everything bad I've ever said about you, Certis.

Just added to master list:

Atras
Badferret
Postmann88
Euclionize

We'll be doing another list update at least 24 hours before we run the draw.

Whoops! You're good.

8PM CST? CST isn't even a real timezone! As Paleo would say, that's just flyover country.

Ventrilo?
Yeesh, just make Rabbit play tf2 and tell the server as we kill him.

I'm assuming that a single player can't win more than once. If we assume everyone got 4 tickets, then your individual odds are 4:1600 (0.25%) for winning the main prize. After one winner is named, your odds will increase slightly to 4:1596 (0.25063%) for the next drawing, and 4:1592 (0.25126%) for the next, and so-on.

What it really hinges on is how many tickets you have (how much you donated). If you were a person who only gets one ticket, your odds are 1:1600 (0.0625%) versus 4:1600 (1:400 or 0.2500%).

For fun:

I'm assuming that a single player can't win more than once.

True

If we assume everyone got 4 tickets

Not true. This would be a dramatic overestimation. I would say that there is a fairly even and equal range of people who fell into each of the four slots, though the two extemems probably received slightly fewer overall entries.

Quintin_Stone wrote:

Considering that the central time zone is currently in CDT, that's actually true.

Elysium wrote:

Right. In one of the other threads, I ran a more varied distribution. There were less donors then, and my distribution was a little more skewed to the center.

So, to revisit that endeavor. All numbers below are made-up, using a different distribution (based on Elysium's comments).
Total donors: 402
Donations by amount: 75+: 60, 50-74: 115, 25-49: 130, 10-24: 87, 0-9: 10.
Total entries: 932

Odds by amount donated (for main prize):
75+: 1:233 (0.429%)
50-74: 3:932 (0.322%)
25-49: 1:466 (0.215%)
10-24: 1:932 (0.107%)

Again, odds will increase slightly as winners are picked for the remaining prizes, but that will vary by the amount the winner donated and what you donated.

Good luck to everyone!

Never tell me the odds!

That's strange.
Good luck to everybody! I think the odds are stacked against me getting that PSP. Next bonus check I suppose..
