Section:

When I first attended college, fresh out of high school, the powers that be decided putting a Street Fighter 2 machine in our dormitory would be a good idea. And, from the perspective of profit and popularity, I'm certain it was a good idea, right up there with some kind of Ramen Noodle vending machine, or a prophylactic dispenser. I don't think I ever walked into the common room, regardless of day or hour, and not found at least two undergraduates pit in furious combat, and usually a small gaggle of people watching and waiting their turn. I was a Guile Man, myself, with occasional Blanka tendencies, and I studied the subtleties of their combat far more than I did Freshman Calculus or Chemistry, which might go some length toward explaining why I only attended that particular university for one complete semester. Ah Street Fighter, you facilitated my collegiate ruin, but I can't be angry at you. Game of the Week!

Comments

Is there really money to be made in releasing Punky Brewster Season 3 on DVD? Other than Soleil Moon Frye, who's going to buy a copy?

Punky Brewser ended up with big jugs.

SHO-RU-KEN!!

Calling all grognards, calling all grognards!

I've been interested in the Combat Mission series, but haven't played any of it yet. Thoughts on the anthology?

One of our dorms had SF2 too, Championship edition. And yes, it was great. It is also directly related to my response in this thread. I was also a Guile man. On original Street Fighter machines, I had managed to learn the infamous "handcuffs" and "magic throw" that got fixed in Championship.

"Prophylactic". (to your credit, it WAS posted at 6:21am...) That's my good deed for the day!

Funny, I looked at that, cocked my head, and thought, "It's Elysium, that must be how you spell it." I didn't even check it.

Double disc edition of V for Vendetta here I come.

RE: Combat mission

Combat mission is pretty much the most in-depth war game ever devised. I've played Barbarossa to Berlin and Afrika Corps, and except for a few minor upgrades to the engine and totally different units, both have the same level of fidelity. If you do happen to pick up Afrika Corps (think it's 20 bucks at FS or BB now) send me a message and we can get a PBEM game going

The funniest part is that there has been a change from the original (profilactic) but it just changed into a separate misspelling. (I've cleverly mispelled one of the words in this post)

Sometimes, the brain just doesn't want to work.
