March 6th - March 11th

What I remember most about the first time I saw Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, is when Lee Rehrman hit me. Lee, for those of you not in his fan club, is a former host of G4's Arena, former Miami Dolphin, and former American Gladiator, so he is not what I might term petite. And, when he's standing in front of you in full camouflage at E3, pointing at the display of TC's GRAW and hitting you in the shoulder while suggesting that you should vocally agree how awesome the game looks, what you say is "sir, yes sir." So, Ghost Recon for the Xbox 360 is our game of the week, because if it weren't I'm very much afraid Lee might come to my house and hit me in the shoulder again. Besides, it looks pretty fantastic. Sir, yes sir, it does!

And when you're done playing soldier in your digital toybox, you can watch Jake Gyllenhaal play soldier in Jarhead. Also, there's some Harry something or other and the Decanter of Flame ... or something. I've never heard of it, but apparently it has a cult following. Yay, Shadow Hearts 3. Just what I need. Everything else, even Ghost Recon 3 is nothing in comparison.

So the 360 GR3 is 3rd person and the Xbox GR3 is 1st person with a silly HUD? Buh?

Onimusha:DOD was a pleasant surprise. It's got a much beefier combat system this time around, some RPG-like elements, and is also rather long at 18-24 hours. I enjoyed my time with it.

But this list reminds me that I'm about 70% through Shadow Hearts 2 and I need to finish it.

I loved Arena. Loved it. Yes, it's kinda lame to watch other people compete in video games on TV, but it's even lamer to watch people sing karaoke on TV, and that's the most popular damn thing going.

"Guilty pleasure" for sure, but cool. Logan and I were planning on getting a couple of friends to join us and drive down to LA to participate, but they canned it before they started the season we were going to try to be on.

Burnout Revenge is a lock for me (time to buy a 360 game other than Marble Blast!), and I'm waiting on the demo and reviews of GRAW to see what I think about that one (no former NFL players are watching over my shoulder).

I'm picking up Ghost Recon for Xbox 360; it just looks way too good to pass up. I might pick up Burnout, if the demo might seem promising.

GRAW here I come. Been waiting for this for a while since I beat Full Auto in no time and wasn't really interested in Fight Night. Probably gonna wait a couple of months for Burnout to drop in price. Just too many good games coming out this month for 360.

I preorder Ghost Recon on Sunday, so I should have it on Wednesday. Can't wait.

I'll be very curious to see what forumers think of Shadow Hearts 3. I finished 1, which was good, and am currently playing 2, which has been great. Hopefully they can keep up the good work. At the rate I finish these things, I should be all set to start it in 2008.

And so it begins. This will be a gaming month to remember.

Also, despite it receiving a luke warm critical reception, I thought Jarhead was a fantastic film. I highly recommend that you check it out if you missed it in the theater.

personally i found jarhead to be quite the disappointment. seemed very rushed/unfinished, perhaps to tie in with the point of the story?

anyway, is ghost recon still about controlling a squad of military types? or is thief with machine guns? i haven't had an interest in that series since day one, don't know why i can't get into modern-setting games, perhaps there's just not enough imagination requirement for me to make the whole endeavor seem worthwhile.

thanks to my picky a*s there's nothing to buy cept oblivion in about a 4 month window. but then again it doesn't help to only be interested in pc gaming

Jarhead was amazing, but there was minimal action, which it can't really be faulted for. Yes, I saw it on the pretenses that there was some kinda of action involved, but I was still far from disappointed.

Pretty ho-hum lineup this week. Wake me up when Tetris DS is out. Thats right, I said it.

Ghost Recon for Xbox 360 is a great game and I've had fun playing with all you guys that picked it up. Certis, zeroKFE,JimmDogg,Mr E.B. Slugworth,iNei,volofly, and the other 8 or so guys that I had the chance to meet online from this site. Made the game so much more injoyable to play this week.

Now its back to work till next friday so I'll see you guys then.
