April 25th to May 1st

Once next Sunday rolls around we'll be entering the month of May and ever closer to E3. Can you smell the hype? Can you see the PC faithful shuffling back into their caves until the storm blows over? All I can say for sure is that I'm going to have a hell of a lot of fun with the whole process, there's nothing like the speculations, one-upmanship and pure BS that swirls around the launch of a new console or three. In the mean time, our Game of the Week is Guild Wars. They've had a great run up to retail with plenty of betas and with no monthly fee and a focus on missions this may be a great change of pace from WoW and EQ2.

On DVD this week we have Beaches, Blade: Trinity, Lemony Snickett's a Series of Unfortunate Events and more!

Guild Wars (04/26)
Guild Wars Collector's Edition (04/26)

Guild Wars, now with leather armor in larger cup sizes!

Right? With boobies right there on the box, how can it be bad?

Perhaps, this week, I will have enough saved to get Timesplitters: Future Perfect and Blade: Trinity.

One of my favorite gaming measures is the 'Start to Crate' rating. It measure how much time there is between starting the game and the first time you see some sort of breakable/openable crate/box/vase/alien doodad/venezuelan beaver/whatever. Some people like a really low S2C, some like it high, depending on your preference. GW has about a 15 min S2C, assuming they didn't put one on the box cover. About 2 minutes after installation and char creation you'll be pointed toward a chest that contains your noob weapon. That's my kind of gaming!

Since this is internet games I think it means there will be girls there!

Anyone else interested in Empire Earth II? This is only the second game I've ever pre-ordered. I knew I'd be playing it, since some friends here are rabid LAN Empire Earth fans. It's taken knocks for lousy fights, and while I agree, I've never really enjoyed RTS fighting anyway. All other aspects of the game, though, are very fun, especially if you like a somewhat less frenetic RTS game.

As far as less frenetic, fun RTS games go: shattered galaxy. http://www.sgalaxy.com/ Awesome, fun, fast, free (up to a certain level) MMO RTS thinger.

I thought Laser Squad Nemesis came out last week, what's up with that?

It looks like she's bending over to fit her head in the shot. "Hello, my eyes are up here." If she straightened her neck, we'd be missing half her forehead.

That game went to retail? Holy crap!

Getting Rengoku for the PSP because its gathering big time dust right now...

I'm mildly curious as to what orifice you pulled that expression out of... that being said, I find S2C an interesting way of looking at how good a game is. With almost any game, the first thing I do when I first find a crate, vase, cup, "venezuelan beaver", is try to open/break it.

I might grab Guild Wars, but I'm still considering it... If I do grab it, the earliest would be Friday.

Any word on Predator game?

[edit] Nevermind... it blows!

Didn't Ulari predict guildwars would never make it to market?

Why yes he did, on October 12th.

It's the sound effects that really bring the impact to that smiley...

Monty Python reference, and quite obscure at that.

Nah, not that obscure.

For those who don't know/remember the origin of this, check here. Damn, I miss that site.
