Sept 27th - Oct 3rd

Before I get started on what we have coming out this week IÂ'd to thank Sway again for all his awesome contributions to the site. IÂ'm hoping heÂ'll still pop up with something new once in a while even though the Infinite Lives comics are done, we can only hope! Now, please collect some oranges, drop them in a burlap sack and prepare to beat me to death. The Game of the Week is not Evil Genius. The demo felt under-developed to me and while I appreciated what they were shooting for it just didnÂ't strike my gaming nerve. Donkey Konga on the other hand drummed a steady beat on my gaming spot at this yearÂ's E3 and it looks pretty damn original! Shipping on Tuesday for $49.99 this Gamecube exclusive includes one Konga controller. A second will run $34.99 if youÂ're looking for some multiplayer action.

On DVD this week we have The Alamo, Club Dread, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Footloose (!), Supersize Me, Walking Tall and more!

IÂ'm doing a little something different this week in regards to Â"The BuzzÂ" on all the games. LetÂ's face it, IÂ've never heard of (or cared about) some of these titles so why waste everyoneÂ's time with making stuff up? The Buzz will now be relegated to games I know something about or deserve some special commentary. Essentially, if I can pull something out of my ass, IÂ'll post it. Please donÂ't take that last comment literally.

Evil Genius
Platform: PC
Ships: Sept 28th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: As mentioned on the front page, IÂ'm not blown away. Plenty of people were though so donÂ't take my word alone for it!

Codename: Panzers Phase One
Platform: PC
Ships: Sept 30th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Solid reviews at Gamerankings for this one. If youÂ're looking for a 3D WW2 RTS this may fit the bill quite nicely.

Colin McRae Rally 2005
Platform: Xbox
Ships: Sept 28th
Price: $29.99

Shadow Ops: Red Mercury (DVD Edition)
Platform: PC
Ships: Sept 28th
Price: $29.99

The Buzz: Listen, I was going to ignore this game completely but I figured you should at least get some warning. Stay far, far away from this game. The demo was awful.

NBA Live 2005
Platform: GC, Xbox, PS2
Ships: Sept 28th
Price: $39.99

Myst IV Revelation
Platform: PC
Ships: Sept 28th
Price: $39.99

Rocky Legends

The Buzz: Previews looked decent but no early reviews should send up some warning signs. Approach with caution!

The Buzz: This series is still limping along it seems.

Armored Core: Nexus

Codename Panzers really shouldn't be considered JAWW2RTS (Just another WW2 RTS). It was really superb as far as I played it. The missions were really fun anf challenging and it's really about battle tactics because this game is not about base building and resource collection. Plus, the graphics rock. And, FYI, the campain can be mastered by two players cooperatively. I'll have to pick up the inevitable Gold Edition (Phase One + Add-on) some day when I have a manly PC again, only had the chance to play the game at some friend's place so far.

I guess Donkey Konga will be mine as well when it comes out over here. Sounds like another great GC party game.

After learning how competitive my wife is after playing Sambe De Amigo ( another controller specific game), I had no choice but to order a second controller for Donkey Konga. Hopefully Nintendo will make enough of the controller to match the demand. Samba De Amigo Maracas were in short supply.

Mmmmmm Maracas. Choco Party, Good Good.

I am going to buy one extra controller first to see if it's fun enough with 2 players (me and my son). If it is, I'll add a 3rd one for my wife.

Codename: Panzers Phase One has to be one more hilariously awful game names this year though.

Shadow Ops? Man, that demo sucked.

Nothing for me this week.

Thank god.

Well, Phase One is only the subtitle though. The add-on will be Phase Two. So, the main title of the game would be Codename: Panzers.

Well, that's alot better. Now, if only people'd learn to drop that colon too, we'd be making real progress.

There's something about colon and dropping that just doesn't work........

NBA Live 2005 isn't $19? I thought it was an ESPN title.

NBA Live 2005 isn't $19?

NBA Live has been EA's basketball series for like 10 years now.

Oh, I got confused by ejay33's post about a GWJBA league, where he says it'll be 19 bucks. When does the ESPN NBA 2k5 come out, then? I admit, I don't play many sports titles.

Crusader Kings, don't forget Crusader Kings! The RTW-killah!

Well, not really, but it'll be fun anyway.

I still havent picked up WH40K or Rome:TW and now there are more games. I am still trying to finish Doom 3 which reminds me I am off to kill some more hellspawn - almost wet myself with the female spider thing - I wont sleep right for weeks.

EG didnt do it for me either. Felt like a poor mans Dungeon Keeper. Man that was a great game! Nothing like killing elves is there?

But its the DVD Edition man! If it was any other edition, it just wouldn't do, but it's on DVD!

Oh yeah, and Super Size Me is a great flick. Very entertaining and, although it was all stuff I logically knew, completely turned me off fast food.

I had a BigMac after watching Supersize Me. I hadn't eaten beef in years.

Isn't that the exact opposite reaction the movie was supposed to give you?

mmmmmm..

Big Mac, so beefy!

Thanks for pre-ordering from EBgames.com! As an added benefit to ordering from us, we'll keep you informed of ship date changes. We are writing to let you know that the publisher has set a new ship date for DK Bongos of 10/4/2004. As always, EBgames.com will not charge your credit card until we ship your order.

This does not bode well for my planned banging, er beating, uh thumping of the drums.

So let me get this straight.

If I want to play 4 person drunk-ass Donkey Konga, I not only have to buy the $50 game, but I have to buy 3 $35 extra congas?

Anyone actually played the game (preferably with more than one conga) who can confirm it's worth the investment?

I played it at a Gamecube kiosk at a Toys'r'us. Alone. It is certainly fun. But all reviews are saying that since Nintendo apparently tried to make this as family-oriented as possible, the songs are running the blandest degree of mainstream gamut.

WOO! They added an FPS dual analog control scheme to Armored Core Nexus!

Argh, I might have to get this now...

Screw Mechassault 2! I want my mechs to be fully customizable you pansy assed consolitis loving designers.
