April 26 - May 2nd

Section:

A handful of truly notable games will see release this week, City of Heroes and Lineage 2 among them. While Lineage 2 has failed to gain any sort of foot-hold in our fickle forums, City of Heroes has managed to garner a following, if only to kill time until World of Warcraft comes out. Neither of these games however, are Game of the Week. No sir, Beyond Divinity is what you want to watch out for thanks to a few notable features. The first being that the original version of Divine Divinity is included with the game! You have no excuse anymore, it's all patched up and utterly fantastic. I'm not sure I'd call it a feature, but in a rare show of a developer listening to the community, Larian delayed the release of Beyond Divinity to re-record the voice acting in the game. The demo was released to a public outcry over the bum-off-the-street level of voice acting talent used originally. Shipping on Tuesday for a mere $39.99 this is an RPG you'll want to watch for.

On DVD this week we've got Big Fish, Stuck on You and season one of The Kids in the Hall among others.

Based on the amount of CoH threads and posts I think you are wrong here.

Just because Kids in the Hall are Canadian doesn't mean you should befoul the forums with mention of them.

He's really not. Larian is doing everything we've ever asked a developer to do, and I'm far more excited about Beyond Divinity than anything else this week.

My point is that the majority of GWJ readers seem to want CoH, not BD this week. I just felt like it deserved/earned the"Game of the Week" distinction

So, you really like the soup?

Is there any chance Onimusha 3 will be making it's way to Xbox/

Oh, I knew what you meant. But, as we've established before, Certis and I think we know better than everyone else. Despite every evidence to the contrary we still like to stick our fingers in our ears and shout when people try to tell us things.

It's very hard not to say something about Beyond Divinity claiming some legal ownership over CoH at this point or expressing the concept as a boolean inequality (Beyond Divinity > CoH) so I think I'll just stick some fingers in my ears.

But, as we've established before, Certis and I think we know better than everyone else.

This has been fact for a long time!

That's basically the definition of CEO. Plus making 500x more money than anyone else in the company.

Oh dear, call me shallow but I just couldnt stomach the Beyond Divinity demo the other day, its not the game itself you understand... just the hilariously awful voice acting. In less than 2 mins of play I'd moved from Stage 1: Laugh to Stage 2: Cringe.

The games on a budget but do you really get what you pay for with voice actors? The less you pay the more high pitched, cardboard-like and unplaceable slightly foriegn accent the actor seems to get. The paradigm breaks down when you pay more... just look at Hollywood. Gah!

Illium, are you aware Larian studios delayed release of Beyond Divinity to address concerns people had about the demo. They rerecorded all the voice acting for example. Seriously, that's just amazing attention to their community.

Or an amazing response to bad quality control in the first place. Still, impressive that they would do that.

Saved By The Bell: Seasons 3 & 4

Hell yeah. Liz Berkeley before her Showgirl fiasco. SIGN ME UP.

No I wasnt Elysium... thanks for the heads up.
I heard good things about the game which why I was slightly bemused by the disjointed production values, glad to see they made the sensible choice...hope they get a new demo out soon.. one a shallow polish lover like me can enjoy.

NB: This does not mean I love Poles.
