That and a Dollar Will Refill My Coffee

Section:

The blame rests squarely on the shoulders of Flux. There are reasons we move on to new games. Sometimes it's because none of the games we're playing are holding our attention anymore. Once in a while it's so that we can finally eject a painfully addicting game from our drives and move on. Flux figured he'd ask for a little help on Civilization 3. This is a game that many of us have to physically uninstall in order to make it that much harder to just start another game. Of course we wouldn't dare just throw a game that good away. Usually we just keep it locked up somewhere safe like Hannibal Lecter. Well, Flux, you don't walk into rehab with a bucket of crack and ask people the best way to smoke it. We all promptly dug up the lead boxes from our backyard where we store our Civ discs and took an old favorite for a quick spin. And now we're all up to our knees in delivery food containers and could probably do with a nap. Wonderful.

Damn you Flux. Damn you straight to hell!

Oooooh a shower; good idea.

That picture is why I don't have any mirrors in my computer room.

I feel soiled. Thank god you don't color those things.

Glad to help!

I noticed you have not been around much lately.

You know what? I bet Genghis Khan said the exact same words when he conquered Asia. How poetic.

That's it, I'm gonna buy this game off eBay. I've never played it because I've been afraid of its consequences. Time to face the evil once and for all. If you don't see me, name an Arena Football team in my honor!

You guys can't drag me back into that game. I've been that dude and I don't want to be him again!

LOL, go bagga, it's your birthday!

*sigh* Guess I'll have to see what it's selling for used at EB... On the bright side, I have been looking for a good sim lately...

That cartoon is sooo unrealistic. Who has time to buy pizza when you're deep into Civ III?

Wow, is the game that good? I've never played a sim, or an rts. I get that way when addicted to an MMORPG, though.

Good comic Sway.

Download the demo from fileshack first before you go buy it. You need to have an idea what it is like first I think. The game isn't for everyone.

Fools, just play Alpha Centauri.

Now you just need the add-on and your set..

Alpha Centauri definitely has its merits. Gotta love the sexy-voiced narrator, the flying clouds of fungus, and that one Wonder that features a chicken factory in its clip, but crushing "The Hive" just isn't quite as satisfying as wiping out the ____ (insert your least favorite culture).

Did I miss something? When did Civilization become a sim? I could have sworn it was a turn based strategy game.

I tried to like AC. I even went so far as to reinstall it right before I bought Civ3. I loaded it up and looked at it... and looked at it... and finally started a game. I looked at my "city" called "Science academy" or "Science Outpost" or some such. Shuddered, quit, uninstalled.

"You DO NOT wan't to play that game" Jedi mind trick doesn't work with Civ addicts. Money doesn't either, for that matter...

There seems to be preset amount of time of playing this game that simply has to be comsumed before one can wrangle him/herself from it. Unfortunately, in vast majority of cases we're talking about weeks and weeks and weeks...
