Is it sexy in here or is it just our new comments system? Mad props to Pyro for
getting jiggy with the comments and matching them up with the forums look and
feel. I'll try not to say "jiggy" again for the rest of the year, I
promise. Seeing as how we're making changes around here I figured I'd mix up the
week ahead a bit. Nothing major, just a focus on one game here on the main page
and the rest listed as usual. This means picking one game as the BIG release for
the week but I'm sure we can all feel good about whichever game I happen to showcase.
Everyone knows my opinion is law around here right? Right?

This Big Game This Week

Mario
Kart: Double Dash!!

I have a feeling we won't see too many Gamecube titles showing up here but I'm
sure we can all agree that Mario Kart is one of the big ones. Both IGN
and Gamespot
gave it roughly 80% reviews with points off for "not pushing the envelope"
with this new release. Poor Nintendo, cursed by their on penchant for innovation.
The rest of the reviews
are a little more positive although the only one that really counts is Spunior's
because let's face it, he's German and they KNOW their kart racing. Double Dash ships out today for the usual price of $49.99.

XIII

Platform: PC, PS2

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $39.99 (PC) $49.99 (PS2)

The Buzz: The comic book styled FPS (there is a PC demo, check the usual
spots) has finally seen fit to hit the shelves. I don't plan to pick it up but
it looks like a solid title with unique cel-shaded graphics and presentation.

Whiplash

Platform: Xbox, PS2

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $39.99

The Buzz: A wacky hilarious slapstick platformer about a rabbit and
weasel chained together who must sabotage an animal testing lab. Full of platforming
hilarity!

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Platform: PC

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: The Xbox game of the year finally hits the PC with some added
content, better graphics and a redone interface with the keyboard and mouse
in mind. If you like games, and I think you do, I suggest you pick this one
up if you haven't already played it on the Xbox. Barring any major game-stopping
bugs it should be a winner.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System

Platform: Xbox, Gamecube, PS2

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: An action platformer about a robot with some kick-ass weapons.
The reviews have been high-average so far but the market is already so flooded
with these games it may not have much of an impact.

Final Fantasy X-2

Platform: PS2

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: I've been watching Hoochie play it this weekend (she'll be
reviewing it this week) and it is most defiantly more Final Fantasy X. If you
loved the original you'll probably enjoy this one too, girl-power angle and
all.

Secret Weapons Over Normandy

Platform: PC, Xbox, PS2

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Lucasarts is back at it with a new flight sim. Considering
the release for console systems too I wouldn't look for a very accurate flight
sim here.

I-Ninja

Platform: PS2

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Another platformer, this time you're a cute little ninja guy
who flips and runs and jumps! Can you tell I'm getting tired of talking about
these games?

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Platform: Xbox

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: A port of the PC version with Xbox Live support (I think)
and the single player game. So long as the controls work well this should be
a lock for the online saber battles.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

Platform: Gamecube

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Setting aside the unlockable version of the original Prince
of Persia I don't think you'll get much more than 10 - 12 hours out of this
title. It's an excellent experience while it lasts of course but you may want
to consider a rent none the less.

Manhunt

Platform: PS2

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Rockstar's edgy and hard-core action/stealth game has you
on the run from those who hunt the deadliest game of all: Man.

Counter-Strike

Platform: Xbox

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Finally! You can pay full price for Counter-Strike, just like
you always wanted.

NBA Inside Drive & NHL Rivals 2004

Platform: Xbox

Ships: Nov 18th

Price: $49.99

The Buzz: XSN's latest sports releases with full Xbox live support.
Can Rivals stand toe to toe with ESPN hockey and NHL 2004? Wait and see.

X2: The Threat

Platform: PC

Ships: Nov 19th

Price: $39.99

The Buzz: Loads of people have been waiting for this space sim to hit
the shelves. Your time has come!

Comments

kart what? I once went to kart racing but there were no plumbers or toads I could race against so I told the other wimps on the track they should call me when Mario arrives and went. Haven't yet got a reply. Did I do something wrong? Some of the guys were looking at me in a strange way as well. I have no clue why.

Tenacous D: The Complete Master Works came out last week, and it's awsoming up my DVD player right now. Long live the D!

Finally Lord of the Ring: Two Towers ED is out...

The AquaTeen Hunger Force DVD is supposed to be out tomorrow as well.

Yeah, Video ETA tends to be a bit wacky sometimes.
