November 10th- 16th

I think I'm just going to curl up in a corner and whimper for a while, the release list this week is huge. There are a few must-haves in there too which makes things that much more difficult. Which do you buy? Which game gets left cold on the shelf, softly calling your name? Maybe you should finish some other games first, maybe that's what you should do.

On the DVD front we have Terminator 3, Cool World and the second season of King of the Hill if you just can't get enough of that southern humor.

The BIG Games

Contract J.A.C.K
Platform: PC
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $29.99

The Buzz: Some sort of prequel No One Lives Forever 2, it uses the same engine and seems to lean towards more action than stealth.

The Simpsons Hit and Run
Platform: PC
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $29.99

The Buzz: A surprisingly good Simpsons games makes it's way to the PC at a cheaper price. If you haven't tried the console versions and you're a Simpsons fan this may be worth a buy.

Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna
Platform: PC
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $29.99

The Buzz: This Dungeon Siege expansion comes complete with the full version of the game included so if you've never tried the game before this is a good opportunity to do so. The coop was a lot of fun but many found the single player game lacking. Wait and see if the expansion offers any improvements.

Goblin Commander: Unleash the Horde
Platform: Gamecube, Xbox, PS2
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $39.99

The Buzz: An interesting action-strategy game that looks kind of like a mix between Warcraft III and Sacrifice. Could be a sleeper, could be a dud.

Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando
Platform: PS2
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $39.99

The Buzz: The PS2 continues its platforming dominance with the sequel to Ratchet and Clank. All new experience-based character development, weapon upgrades and more in what I'm sure will be a fine game.

The Hobbit
Platform: GC, PS2, Xbox
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: I'd like to say this upcoming platform game based on the book license looks great but then I'd be lying. Be careful and wait for reviews.

Crash Nitro Kart
Platform: GC, Xbox, PS2
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: A Crash Bandicoot Kart racing game released during the same week as Mario Kart: Double Dash. Good luck!

Uru: Ages Beyond Mist
Platform: PC
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: A comprehensive single player game with the addition of an online mode where you can interact with others and download new levels and puzzles to unravel. I don't know, it's a new fully 3D engine and it looks neat but... meh.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance
Platform: Xbox, OS2
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Can't say the first one was very stunning so I won't say this one will be either. Wait and see.

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun
Platform: GC, PS2, Xbox
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: The wildly successful Medal of Honor series gets a new game with a re-creation of the Pearl Harbor attack among other exciting levels. The gameplay videos I've seen look great.

Beyond Good and Evil
Platform: PS2
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Ubi Soft must have their noses firmly up Sony's ass. Once again the PS2 gets a head start on the other versions much like Prince of Persia. Anyways, the game looks great and should be worth checking out on any platform. Xbox and PC November 18th and Gamecube December 2nd.

Links 2004
Platform: Xbox
Ships: Nov 11th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Online golf for the Xbox. The graphics look great and hopefully the series has stepped it up if they want to compete with Tiger Woods.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Platform: Xbox
Ships: Nov 12th
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: Arguably one of the best versions of the game. The PS2 release is already gathering excellent reviews so you can't miss with this one.

ESPN College Hoops & NCAA Final Four 2004
Platform: PS2 (Hoops and Final), Xbox (Just Hoops)
Ships: Nov 11th (Final) Nov 13th (Hoops)
Price: $49.99

The Buzz: EA and SEGA go head to head again, this time with college basketball. Who will come out on top? Only time will tell.

Arx Fatalis
Platform: Xbox
Ships: Nov 14th
Price: $39.99

The Buzz: Looking for a solid PC RPG on a console? This is it! I finished the PC version and while it has its share of flaws it's really not all that bad.

Certis... am I reading this right OS2! Isn't that a bit drastic... if you are clueless, I'm talking about Legacy of Kain!

Yes, finally OS2 is getting the gaming love it richly deserves. In five years time OS2 will be the gaming platform of choice, just you wait!

Or it was a typo which I'm going to leave since it amuses me.

Hmm, Arx Fatalis, I've been sorta waiting for this.  Anyone else have any comments on the PC version?  Worth buying on the box if I haven't played it before?

I'd actually argue that Arx Fatalis is probably better suited toward a console.  I didn't play a ton of it, but its ambiance reminded me of the original PS title King's Field.  It seemed a quality game, I just had too much on my plate at the time.

Like wise...

It actually is a pretty fun game. I actually found it to be more like the Ultima Underworld games. Actually ... i believe that this game was made in homage of that game and there's even a cheat you can do that converts the graphics/or gameplay or soemthing like that to make the game look like underworld. So if you like Underworld ... play Arx ... also .. altho I admit I'm a bit biased cuz PC is my preferred platform ... I'd say get the PC version. AND it's for sale at GoGamer for something like $16.00 or so .. whatta bawgain!!!!
