ATI Compensates for Half-Life 2 Delay

Or so they think. Knowing that Half-Life 2 bundles might look as attractive as this here to some people thanks to the uncertain release date of the game, ATI has decided to upgrade the packs according to Ferrago.

Valve and ATI have added the Valve Premier Pack FREE, which includes the games: Half-Life, Counter Strike, Team Fortress Classic, Deathmatch Classic, Half-Life: Opposing Force and Ricochet.
In other words: the bundles are as (un)appealing as they were before because approximately 96.74% of you people already own the game and its expansion/mods and/or dislike Valve's Steam service. Also, even notorious optimists will now slowly start realizing that Half-Life 2 is unlikely to be released this year.

I don't get it. Getting Hal-Life 2 free when you buy the card or after you buy the card when the game ships is still free. Why is that a bad deal?

This is quite a marketing loss for ATI. HL2 isn't just any game, and many people are planning to upgrade their PCs for this game and Doom 3. Let's guess the game comes out some time in April or later, which would be 5-6 months from now own. In 5-6 months you'll get a much better graphics card for the same price, and that's what will keep some people from buying them now.

What, no Blue Shift?  What a rip.  I agree with Spunior.  I'm in the market for a new card and now that it is likely Half Life 2 will not appear before April of next year, the offer is not a consideration in whether I will purchase this card or the NVIDIA 5700.
