Speaking of companies almost irrelevant to gamers everywhere, 3DO has declared chapter 11 bankruptcy and allegedly let go of most of their staff. After pissing on the Heroes of Might series and chasing it down with way too many Army Men games it looks like reality has finally snuck up on Trip Hawkins and bit him in the ass. That's right Trip, game sales are slow due to the war in Iraq, you cling to that while you sign everyone's pink slips. According to IGN 3DO is in the process of either selling off their games separately or as a package to the highest bidder. Among them are Jacked, Street Racing Syndicate, Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and High Heat Baseball. Good luck to all the people let go during the sinking of 3D0's ship.
In other news, it sounds like Take 2 has dropped their expectations of how well Duke Nukem Forever will sell assuming it ever ships. This from a recent phone conference with Take 2 nabbed by The Shack:
Way to go 3drealms! You may not produce anything worth while anymore but at least you can afford to get away with it. Maybe Trip is looking for work..Analyst: Regarding Duke Nukem Forever for the PC, any chance - any possibility under the sun - that we see that this holiday season? Or at what point do you guys just pull the plug on that?
Take Two: I think in terms of possibilities under the sun for this holiday season, the answer to that is 'no.' With regards to next year, we're in a wait and see mode at this point. You know, last quarter we wrote it down substantially, so we generally already pulled the plug. And right now we're just hopeful that the team in Dallas will finish it."

Despite everything... I still am looking forward to DNF. Really I should know better as this game has even surpassed Daikatana in delays and overblown development... but damn its Duke!
My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.
