Yeah, the books are great fun. Even friends who don't like to read *shudder* seem to get a kick out of them.
I think the fourth book was the best of the lot... but the new one looks promising and weighs in at 768 pages!

Elysium you really should pick them up and read them. They're great books and easy to read, you'll end up compeleting them in about a week.

I hate Harry Potter. Horrible derivitive nonsense. If you want a set of "Childrens" Books, then try His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman. It will appeal to the Planescape Torment and Longest Journey loving geek that's inside you.

I bought the first book on a lark, figuring the hype couldn't be justified. I was wrong, it's great storytelling, particularly of you're a bit if an anglophile. The unabridged audiobooks read by Jim Dale are even better, they're now my preferred format (I never "read" the books after the 1st one). Hope the audio gets released at the same time as the hardcover.
