No Man’s Sky is one of those games that appears to promise the world. Indeed, it seems to have promised 18 quintillion worlds. The game has captured and absconded with the imaginations of lots of people, but I’m trying to keep a cool head about it.

Not even in death can we escape quick-time events.

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of base-building games, so when Ken Seto, cofounder and CEO of Massive Damage Games, offered to give me a demo of Halcyon 6 at Pax East, I jumped right on it. I also jumped at the opportunity to grab his business card so I could ask him some questions about life, the universe and everything.

Extreme Forklifting 2 looks like the kind of goofy fun that I like in my sims. The game is, essentially, a puzzle platformer where you drive a forklift to deliver pallets of goods to various locations within a warehouse. The only thing that gives me pause it that the ad copy strikes me as a little too self-aware for its own good.

Oh, hell, I can’t resist: I was going to say “When life gives you explosions, make Explosionade!” Then I looked at some promotional material for the game, and saw that the PR department beat me to it. Whatever, it’s still a good joke. For certain values of “good,” that is.

I'm not usually much of an early adopter, by gamer standards. I've purchased only one game within a week of launch this year – and that was partly because Stellaris launched at $40 and was on sale. But Pokémon GO was easy.
