Great time last night. Aside from squad issues and being forced onto opposing teams and mic/party weirdness, which was not so great. But I'm a love-a this game.

Agreed. I really hope the squad management gets fixed soon. I don't even know what that heck that was were you couldn't hear LH.

I'll be on this afternoon for a bit and tonight.

Thanks for killing me so much last night. While I hope they get the squad/friends thing worked out, I also hope to have a chance to return the favor.

Picked up my (360) copy yesterday. Friend me, BF3 people.

I'm looking forward to see how the MP experience changes (improves) after the release of MW3. Damn pubbys.

Looks like the server problems have hit the PS3 folks. Only one EA server is showing up right now.

Ya, one of my first games landed me in a MPV driven by one of the said pubbys. I was promptly driven out of bounds and dumped. I got out but couldn't make it back inbounds in time. I decided to switch teams and hunt him the rest of the match.

Finally was able to get in some MP tonight. Encountered some lag issues, but good times nonetheless. Only had one round with actual teamwork though; everyone on PSN is so quiet.

And I realized after you left that I had muted my mike about half way through our matches and forgot to turn it back on...ugh.
I was so frustrated by the inability to stay in, or put together a squad, I wasn't thinking. I was also pretty annoyed at the sniper religiously camping the crane on Op Firestorm and his sniper buddy camping the hill behind it.

Played from 5:30pm EST till 1:00am last night with friends and, got straight up rolled the entire evening. I think we won no more than 3 rounds the entire time. We always seemed to get the teams who were organized and had expert pilots and tank drivers. For reference this was the same group of friends, some of you played with the other night; they are no slouches when it comes to this game.

The thing I hate most is, the lock range for the AA missile launchers. If I can see the details of the aircraft I'm trying to hit, I should be able to start the lock process; the damn thing has a ~5000m range in real life. Kept running into good pilots last night that were running Stealth Tech (longer to acquire lock) and Flares. They would circle way out of the engagement zone until making a run. With Stealth Tech they could swoop in make a run and be on the outbound leg before I could get a lock, then pop flares and be back out of lock range before I could get lock again; they would then circle out of range until flares reloaded and make another run.

Who else thinks the Amtrak Amphibious needs less armor? The damn thing can take RPG hits all day long.

Whats with not giving repair points for Engineers who repair helios while they are in them, in mid flight? I missed out on a metric ton of repair points one match because of it. We had a good pilot that match and we had the bird in the air for all of the sections. We took continual hits and had a continual lock(s) on us. I was repairing the entire time. Got no points and no ribbons at all.

That defintiely needs to be fixed. I also noticed that if I'm driving a vehicle and hop out to repair, I don't get any points. That's bs and needs to be patched as well. I also hope they tweak the EOD controls - they're far too sensitive.

I ended up doing Gears and Beers last night. I'm definitely going to be on for some battlefield tonight.

I'm really baffled that not a single player in any of the pub games I've been today have had a mic. WTF is going on? It's so frustrating to play a tactical shooter when no one is talking.

The IRNV (Infared) Scope is AWESOME! Can't wait to get it for the SV98.

I actually kind of like it as it can also serve as a mobile spawn a la MAG, plus it's so slow. One way I've found to counter it on defense is put a metric ton of mines in the water on the ramps at the start of the match, since it's so slow to get there.

Three mines on each of the ramps is enough to immediately knock it down to be easily finished off by RPG. Putting them in the water virtually assures that they won't see them. I got a number of kills on it so far with this technique. I've yet to try it with C4 though.

When I unlock them, I want to set up a motor position on the roof of the dry dock, that should be fun :).

Anyone here go by the gamertag Timmy_RaR_Rar or CanadianCowz?

You can have my tags anytime, but ya gotta earn 'em!

I really need to get on 360 with you guys. So far I've not had access to the 360 without the family when you guys are playing.

I really wish they'd let your unlocks work across the platforms.

Anytime I've been playing BF3 (360) on I've seen 2 Goodjers at most. Where the hell has everyone been?

There's been a bunch of folks playing on and off, but I'm starting to wonder if the folks on the platoon aren't syncing up with Xbox live. Maybe this was a false assumption that it would? But I've also had an awful time getting on squads with folks.

I have about 100 people on my friends list (mostly Goodjers). Maybe there are a bunch of new guys here that I just never added. I'll send some friend invites to anyone in this thread that isn't already added.

For the PS3 folks, I'm logging in now and will be on for the rest of the night. I need goodjers to revive!

Currently playing the 'lets rearrange furniture tonight and see how it looks' game with the wife tonight. Hope to join you later.

I caved and bought this tonight for 360. I have a very full friends list, but I have a few of you already on it, and I'll try to get synced up with the squad-thing this weekend.

I'm pretty much a complete BF noob, so hopefully I can get in some games soon.

Tried to get into a game with you mindset, but your game was full for most of the night. Got into another game with some friends only to find out my mic wasn't working anyway.

Played a few hours tonight. First impression is that it's terrible. I don't care for the movement or the shooting. But some of the design choices seem just inept. Mortars are like sawed-offs for snipers, but with infinite ammo.

Combined with the totally botched launch of the online functionality, and I kind of feel like EA took my money. If I can get 30 bucks for it, it's going back. What a waste of my money.

I completely understand Glanton, those mortars were just annoying as hell. I'm debating on whether or not I want to wait and see if they get fixed.

Sorry to hear the Cpt but, totally understand.

Fun games tonight, up until we got split up on different teams.

I'm curious what you guys experienced with the mortars. I unlocked them yesterday and played a few games with them last night. Their damage is very very low. I think I got maybe 4 kills over 3 matches and two of those were other mortar teams, though I did get several assists. It seems that a mortar on mortar hit is an instant kill, btw.

They seem to annoy and startle me more than damage me on the receiving end. I've yet to be killed by one. I thought it was very underpowered both as a shooter and target.

Once I get by the sometimes temperamental connections issues (which are getting better daily) I'm finding that I'm really enjoying the MP. The SP and co-op are annoying and kind of a joke, but that's another story.

The maps seems to offer a good variety; at least for Rush and Conquest. I've been running almost exclusively as Support for the past few days and find the kit to be solid, fun, and helpful to my team. The M249 with grip, ir scope, and suppressor is a beast and my claymores set up around MCOMs make me smile.

I was worried that I'd have the same reaction as you and for my first games I was also starting to wonder how much I'd get for a fast trade in but, after giving it another few hours, I found my groove and the game now feels very comfortable and I can see myself playing for a good long time (I haven't encountered mortars yet though.)

I'm not saying don't trade the game in but perhaps have one or two more session to see if you don't click with the game.

Ballotechnic: I'm Timmy_RaR_RaR on origin/battlelog, BTW.

I was of the same opinion for the first hour or so of playing, eveything felt to floaty and off somehow.

Once you get in your groove though it's fun, fun, fun.

I've just got to ween myself off swearing everytime I die, because I'm fast running out of new swears.

Gotcha.

We got thumped by some fella who was spaming the mcomms on Rush tonight, it got pretty ugly. Especially on the channeled choke point maps like Grand Bazare, the ability for a fella to spam choke points can be pretty frustrating. On Conquest it's likely much less of an issue since the capture area is so large. I watched a lot of men die in front of me at doorways.

It didn't help that it was primarily one fella spaming them for about 5 consecutive matches, all while in the comfort of his own spawn.

I think the consensus is that they'd be much more balance if they had an ammo count just like every othe infantry weapon in the game. Unlimited ammo leads to un-fun on the recieving end.

Plus my experience was I couldn't perform a tag knife kill on a solder in the mortar position, it wouldn't go into the animation. Boy did I want his tags!

I also think that in many cases the spawns are too close to the objectives, encouraging this kind of behavior. I don't think you should get points or kills if you do so in the confines of a protected spawn...but that's another topic I guess.

Problem with requiring ammo with mortars is that the class that has them also has the ammo.

I haven't been killed much yet on PC with them. I also haven't played much rush.
