2011 MLB Season Discussion

Boo Joe Buck. You're not your dad.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Edit: Great game though

UNBELIEVABLE...or should I say...

*puts on sunglasses*

Unbe-Freese-able?

yeah, I'll shut up now...*has heart attack in corner*

Wow.

Damn. No Fringe tomorrow night.

I heard the radio call as I was in the car at the time, and while I understand the Joe Buck hate in general, I feel like people are going overboard on this particular one. I thought of it more as a small tribute to his father, given the surprising similarity of the two events.

That game, however, was nuts.

;-)

My mom told me that she's balancing her hatred of the Texas Rangers versus her desire to see the reairing of the Bones season finale from last season that she missed. Then I suggested she watch Hulu and she says she doesn't know how to. Parents. *le sigh*

That, was amazing.

I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

Damnit - why did I have to go to bed last night. I left in the 7th......

F*cking catch-up AI.

Agree with all of this statement.

I heard Joe Buck doing an interview this morning. It was pretty emotional.

When Jack Buck died, they had a public viewing with his casket at home plate, and a line reaching out of the stadium for fans to pay their respects. Joe talked about how much he thought about his father and how much he would have loved this game. It made total sense for him make this tribute.

He may not be his father, but he is not who he is today without his father.

I gotta say I wish I had seen the game live, but Cruz totally blew that catch in the 9th. Wow. He had the positioning and jump on the ball, but looked to let up a bit. Man. What a game.

I'm rooting for the Cards at this point based on last night's game. I kind of wanted to see the Rangers get that elusive championship, but gotta love the way David Freese is showing up. Legends are made of this stuff.

Matt Holliday is out, and has been replaced by Adrian Chambers on the foster for the final game. What a freaking miserable year of injuries for Holliday.

He missed a bunch of games at the end of the season and beginning of the LCS when he sprained a tendon in on of his fingers while swinging his bat in the on-deck circle. He had an emergency appendectomy after the first game of the season. He came out of a game once this year when a moth flew in his ear and could not be extracted. Now he hurts his pinky getting picked off third base at a horrible time.

Wait wait wait. Adron Chambers? Instead of Craig? Why is that?

Looked like he alligator armed it. I don't know how you do that on would could have been the winning play of the world series. I'm guessing he's getting murdered on Texas talk radio.

I think Craig is starting in LF.

I understand why he did it and why other people didn't have a problem with it but I, personally, didn't like it. It was my all-time favorite player on my favorite team hitting that homerun when I was nine years old. So, I'm willing to bet that that original call has much more emotional resonance with me than anybody else here. That's why I didn't like. Joe's emotionless line reading of Jack's perfect call on the original play will always be right there with it in my mind now. I probably wouldn't have cared if he had just said "I don't believe what I just saw" or, probably more appropriately, "Go crazy, folks".

I'm starting to get happy feet! Long ways to go in a close game, though.

Man, the Rangers tonight has got to be some of the worst post season pitching I've ever seen.

11 in '11!

Congrats to the Cards. Good series. Too bad for Texas but Carp was too stout tonight.

We'll get'em next year.

WOOOOOOO!

Face it; after last night's walk-off, the Rangers were Texas Toast.

Congratulations to the Cardinals for winning a hard-fought series.

It really was hard fought. On the Cards Talk forum last night was a thread entitled "If the Cards Don't Win Next Year." The post then said, "then I hope the Rangers do!"

What ensued was an entire thread of Cardinal fans talking about how much they admired the Rangers organization. I have been on board with the Rangers for a few years now. They are my AL team of choice.

By October, the Cardinals are going to be steamrolling teams. I may not have liked to see Rasmus go, but their bullpen just got much better. In addition to the two relievers they picked up from toronto, Edwin Jackson (who Duncan will turn into a superstar) send McLellen back to the pen.

McClellen has been a good starter, but has problems getting past the sixth. In the pen, he will get 3-4 mph on his pitches, more movement, and really become the force he would have been had Wainright not gone down in spring training.

The Cards have had a metric ton of injuries this season, and are just about ready to dominate the second half.

I'm going to say I called this. I will say I was pretty sure they were finished after blowing the next three weeks. But I felt really good about their post trade deadline roster. While they did not steamroll through the playoffs, I will take a World Championship.

I can't say that. I had written them off, but I've never been happier to be proved wrong. This was the only fitting end for that run. Good for them and good for baseball.

I only wish I had the chance to watch every game like I did in '06.

Go Cards!
