This thread exists - yay! Anyone able to provide their thoughts on the PS3 version? Mainly interested in multiplayer impressions on the PSN, but all opinions welcomed. Thanks!

The PS3 version doesn't seem to have any of the server issues that PC and 360 experience, probably because theres a lot less of us. My PSN name is Xosa17, friend me up!

I only see 2 people playing BF3 right now. Where is everyone?

I'll be joining you soon. Double dip for the win!

I thought I was the only person who bought this on PS3 here. Just joined GWJ, or at least I thought I did, apparently I joined 2 years ago at some point (started listening to the podcast a few weeks ago). I'll be on tomorrow night, since it looks like rain and cold weather here.

Nice. tagged.

I had a napping miscalculation. I'll be on shortly.

So anyone here go by the gamertag Cybertrick, garebearvol, or teflondon13 on xbox live?
If so either respond to this post or be sure to add your name to this spreadsheet.

Of course, why would Battlelog give me the ability to send messages to non friends or platoon mates. That would be insane. :/

here, here, i'm here, put me in coach (info added to the spreadsheet)

anyone know of a way to get out of a game after it ends and before the next one starts. do you really have to wait to get into the next game before you have an option to quid out to the menu?

My copy should also arrive today. Will sign up then.

Gotcha! Yeah, unfortunately you have to wait to leave or exit to the dashboard.

Could someone grab me a link to said spreadsheet so I can put it in the OP; I know I'm on it already but, couldn't find where it was.

Ok platoon request sent. Name: Higgley_GWJ

Hi,

First post in the forum, great fan of the podcast!

I'm on PS3, which means that I can't join the platoon. So I made a new platoon for PS3.

Tagging for 360 goodness. Just need to actually buy a copy now.

teflondon13 is a friend of mine. I don't think he has an account on the site but he listens to the podcast. He must have found the link through my battlelog.

How the hell did I miss that link?! Reading is not one of my strengths.

Cool, added to the OP.

Will be on starting at 5:30 EST tonight and won't jump off until at least 12:30 (or the servers crash). Will be rolling with the same people I had the other night feel free to join us.

Is there any benefit to the platoon other that being able to see stats of friends easily?

Thanks for the thread. I've been on every night since launch, but this weekend is spotty due to visiting inlaws. Still, sent some friend requests. Any ideas for a recurring night?

Great time last night. Aside from squad issues and being forced onto opposing teams and mic/party weirdness, which was not so great. But I'm a love-a this game.

Managed to get a half of a game in before the servers crashed and then I got caught up in the World Series game.

In the one game I played, I crashed a helicopter pretty quickly. I really need some pilot training.

I was planning on getting on last night, but the World Series pulled me in. I'll be back online next week or Sunday night since I'm out of town for the weekend.

I couldn't get on last night as I had a dinner to go to, but I'll be on tonight for sure. Probably starting around 9 PM PST.

I'm at work now watching the clock tick by, and dreaming of capping some flags.

For the consoles, that and a hub for information on your soldier, forums, platoon communication etc. For the PC's, they use it to launch the game I believe.

Agreed. I really hope the squad management gets fixed soon. I don't even know what that heck that was were you couldn't hear LH.

I'll be on this afternoon for a bit and tonight.

suggestion: as far as i can tell, there's no way to link up with your platoon budds once you are in a multiplayer game (unless some are also on your friend list.) if so, that is a HUGE over-site. i hope maybe they will patch that in eventually. in the meantime, how about we make a free xbox silver account under i.e. "GWJ BF3 Platoon" and send invites to all the players in the platoon. since many of you guys are not on my friends list, this would be an easy way to see who is playing and invite each other into games of bf3. we did this for bf1943 and black-ops and it worked well to keep tabs on each other.

So far what seems to work best is to go to the server browser, scroll to the friends tab, and join the server your friends or platoon-mates are on. But so far the squad management hasn't worked terribly well, I agree. I'm gonna mess around today to see if there is some better way.

Gravey was using the old GWJ Bad Company account for BF3 folks as well, but I'm not too certain how often he is able to check it. The one thing I like about the platoon system so far is that you're able to have leaders who can also accept and manage invites.

If we do a silver account I propose we call it GWJ Battlefield, to encompass future sequels as well.

Woa, sorry if I missed it in the other thread, but anyone aware of the multiplayer situation for rental versions circulating in Redboxes and Blockbuster? I was thinking of picking this up to check out the multiplayer to see if it's something I'd be into as a CoD lover, but you apparently have to pay an additional $10 to unlock the content?!?

That's fairly standard these days. Many games do that.

I think Homefront had the best solution. Let you level up to rank 10 (which took a couple of days of casual play probably). Gives you a taste. These games that completely wall if off seem short sighted.
