Oh, I had the same issue some of you guys did: I imported my Blood Dragon Armor-wearing character into a DLC and was treated to a cut-scene of my buff male warden traipsing around in a skimpy loin cloth.

It's important, as Warden Commander, to let your boys breathe.

That's what you might call dual wielding.

Nope, equipment mandated a 2-Handed build. Indomitable, Destroyer, Stunning Blows, Onslaught, Berserker and Champion specializations.

All that just to keep Morrigan's hands off your weaponry

Now why would I want to keep her hands off of anything!? Mages are really good with their hands....

Q-Stone just wants Morrigan to partially shapeshift to have bearclaw hands. Or maybe Flying Swarm. He's just into that

Is this a blessed demi-bee

Some freak
from a menagerie?
NO!

It's Eric the half-a-bee.

Doing all of the origin stories was the most engaged I've ever been. That being said, I played another couple hours last night. Stats says I'm 34% complete.

I think I'm gonna restart as human rogue or warrior.

Just picked up a copy on the 360. Any advice for an aging rookie with slow reflexes? Running with a female mage origin.

Pause a lot.

Tactics are your bread and butter. I've had a Dragon Age Tactics.txt file hosted on my web space for awhile, and I think it has some of the best tips for bringing people up to speed on how they work and why they are so very important. It's a conglomeration of 3 really useful rundowns on how they function.

Also: Cone of Cold is awesome as a mage. So unfairly overpowered it saves your bacon so much you'll be using it against dragons, demons, dwarves and darkspawn.

True fact. This game is all about controlling what enemies can act and when.

Then stabbing them repeatedly in the back.

Winter's Blast and Cone of Cold are so vital that I can't imagine taking a mage down the fire talents first.

Mana Clash is also hilariously broken and should be taken ASAP.

Ah yes, the best (and easiest way) to get the 250dmg Achievement

Yeah. And I should note Mana Clash isn't a "Playing a Mage" requirement--it's a "Having a Mage" requirement. It utterly neuters a lot of fights.

Is anyone else with the Ultimate Edition via Steam having issues with DLC being unauthorized? I've tried most of the tricks that the intarwebs wanted to offer up, to no avail. I was going to try to install via Origin, but when I attempt to add my cd code, I get nothing back but a server error.

Have you tried it through the Bioware Social website. Yes, EA's systems are a fractured mess.

I had previously registered everything, and it shows up as being registered there. I tried doing so again just to see what would happen, and it told me it couldn't reach the remote servers. I'm assuming I'm SOL until they fix whatever issue they are having.

I'm not sure how to give mage advice, I played very micro-intensive, but I think mage is a very micro-intensive class in general, with the exception of the auto-healer (instant heal /party member 50% hp, heal over time/ party member 50% in tactics, eat mana potion when self /25%), and you're sorta set. Any damage spells in tactics, they will most likely screw it up big time, so you need to micro

I prefer the glyph and hex trees over the more popular elemental trees. Two of those glyphs can be stacked for a gigantic paralyze explosion that is pretty much impossible to resist, unlike the other standard crowd controls. Also things like cone of ice mess up your melee range guys a lot on nightmare, since it freezes/hurts everyone. The hexes are absolutely amazing, especially the ones that cause tons of misses, indispensable against elites, and the crit hex, which causes mages to evaporate. Sten (2H warrior) has one shotted many hexed mages on nightmare with it.

I would suggests against having a melee rogue, as they are also very micro intensive and not that great on auto-pilot unless you are maining it. I'm guessing the 360 versions don't have Bioware's official respec potion also, so it's sorta a mess to clean up Leliana's skills, as her skills are all over the place

Archery isn't particularly strong in Origins, but it's pretty easy to put it on auto-pilot.

It was pretty painless for me when I installed everything a couple weeks back.

Cone of cold should never be put into a tactic. It's something you should line up by hand. Moving into a position to miss your companions is not hard.

Last time there was an issue months back, you could get around it by unchecking the auto- login option and play offline.

Darkspawn Chronicles was an amusing diversion. I got it as part of the DA:O Ultimate pack so I didn't pay for it separately. If I had to put a price tag on it, I'd say like $2.50.

Started on Witch Hunt now.

Naked.

You just made my day, good sir

I do wish I had access to all my loot I left in the Dragon's Keep chest!

Witch Hunt was such a monumental disappointment. Nevermind the lack of Morrigan, it had a bland plot, bland characters, and was just a bunch of bland fights strung together. I got to the end and nothing even resolved for the elf chick.

Also,

Spoiler:

Morrigan told me that Flemeth was the real threat. Forgetting that she thinks I killed Flemeth? Either she thinks Flemeth is dead or she knows I lied about killing her. If the former, the comment makes no sense. If the latter, she should be pissed at me for lying about it.

Spoiler:

I think that Morrigan (rightly) believes that as a body-swapper, a dead Flemeth is only delayed, not destroyed.

I'm playing the Golems DLC now and it's quite annoying. You often get attacked by multiple opponents with knockdown/paralyzing AOE attacks without having any kind of crowd control of your own.
