The Nostalgia Is Strong In This One (SWG/Station?)

I'm not much of a multiplayer player. In fact, except for in-person Mario Kart, and a bit of Madden, I've never really played multi-player. To be honest, I'm not really sure why: maybe other people break the illusion? I never found the right crowd? That's a question for another day (which I'm interested in the answer to).

Back in '03, I decided to give SWG a try, but I was never really able to get into it, for a number of reasons. I had a crappy comp at the time, and a 2003 laptop ain't rendering anything at the power that that MMO needed. I was also in college, and was busy with... college things that really didn't let me spend a lot of time MMOing (no wi-fi back then, so it wasn't like I could grind at the library). Still, I thought it was cool, especially with all the sandboxy stuff, and I wanted to give it a try when I got a chance...

... which never really came. Occasionally, I'd try an MMO: WoW never caught me, I bought a trial of STO and tried it... and found it really lifeless. Maybe MMO's aren't thing, but when I saw that SW:G was shutting down, I figured I'd give it a try, just to see what that was like... maybe I needed something sandbox-y? Maybe I just need something Star Warsy? Maybe I can't do grinding? Sadly, I didn't realize there was a hardcutoff, and my disc was useless.

So, my question is, does anyone have a SWG/Station account I can poke around with? I won't break anything, and I can comp you for the time. Also, if this violated ToS, I can delete this message (don't want to start trouble). Anyways, thanks in advance!

Sadly unless anyone had one active at the end of June there's not one to be had. As you noted they're closing down SWG in December, and only people that had active accounts at the cut off are still able to play. I forgot and missed it by a day I normally kept multiple accounts and would've gladly let you use one.

SWG ended up being one of my most enjoyable gaming experience.

If you're looking for a sandbox MMO, EVE and Fallen Earth are about all that's left, and Fallen Earth is barely sandbox.

There's also Darkfall.

True, but the running theme was sci-fi. Also, there's the fact that Darkfall's devs are supposedly trying to do everything they can to ruin the game, or at least that's running the blog rumor mill.

They're in the process of changing things, and for the better. The majority of folks on the forums tend to think so at least. Still the closest i've come close to capturing the feel of SWG has been in DF. Bit more old school and while you dont have individual houses you do have your guild cities.
