Treadmill Workout Headphones Solution?

I've got a new cardio machine. I want to listen to the TV while on it, but I have to turn the TV up way too loud to hear it. I want some kind of doo-hicky I can plug into my stereo (where my TV noise passes through) and transmits to my machine where I can plug my normal workout headphones into it. Anyone know a good product to do what I'm looking to do? Battery power is fine by me, but I can plug something into the wall if necessary.

You could always go with the Astro Wireless Mixamp. Kind of pricey for this application, though. The receiver has a belt clip, and it will work with any headphones/earbuds/headset.

There might be some way you could do a bluetooth wireless headphone setup for cheaper. Get the headphones, then use a transmitter. Sound quality with this will be worse if that matters.

There are all kinds of full sized wireless headphones, but most are bulkier than I'd personally want to wear when working out.

I was also thinking just get some wireless headphones rather than go through all of that mumbo jumbo.

A popular one that hooks right into your TV are called "TV Ears". They are made for old people so are really simple, not sure how they would do running though. Like $50 at Costco.

FM transmitter + Portable FM radio?

I looked into that, but I sweat like a faucet. They'd be way too hot I think.

This is what I was thinking about, but dang if I've had any luck finding one like what I'm imagining. They are either made specifically for iPod's or a car. I could find nothing that seemed like it was designed for a in-home stereo system. I'll search again maybe on just FM Transmitter and see what I can find.

Headphone jack to FM transmitter should be all you need. If your system has anything but the 3.5mm female jack, just get an adapter.

FM adapters have always been pretty crappy for me, though.

I'm interested in this, too.

This is exactly what I do so I can just use "disposable" iPod earbuds.

As long as we're on the subject of workout headphones, does anyone use noise-canceling headphones while they work out, to drown out the sound of the machine itself? And if so, which ones do you use, and how long do they stand up to sweat?

Okay -- my wife did quite a bit of research on this, and came up with a solution that works wonderfully! She got me the Sony HWS-BTA2W transmitter and the Sony MW600 Bluetooth Stereo Headset. The transmitter is plugged in (no batteries required), and the receiver has a rechargeable battery. I've not used up a charge yet, but it seems like it will last quite a while -- I've had four hour long workouts so far.

There's an ever-so-slight lag in sound as compared to what is on the screen, but for sporting events it is no problem (you never see the talking heads), and with TV shows I can live with it due to it being such a wonderful overall solution. I can use my normal workout headphones, and the transmitter is plugged into the MIC port on the stereo. If you're looking for a similar solution, this is a combination I can whole heartily recommend!

Didn't see this initially but would have had a different opinion then anyway. Now, I can second this. The reason is I've had the MW600's for a long time and inistally had to have problems with iPhones (failing to stream the audio or register key presses) but since iOS5 they now work flawlessly. They even have the added bonus of having its own radio which makes them almost custom made for iOS devices. They are also usable with 3 different devices (including PS3s or even multiple phones). I use mind on my bike with my iPhone when commuting and with my laptop when I'm cooking. The last slot is for my wives phone whenever she takes the lads out for a walk. Don't forget, you can swap in and out what ever buds you like as the microphone is in the base unit but I'm still using the original Dutch style in ear set that came with it.

One small tip, sheared, watch the clip. It breaks all too easily which means you have to resort to using a paper clip as a stop gap solution. Mine still works perfectly even with this jerry rig and is probably best option for stereo bluetooth headphones out there. I know because I've gone through several and only came back to the MW600s on the off chance the iOS 5 update fixed the issues I was having.

I'm not too sure, but I came across this post when I was searching for Bluetooth headphones: Best Bluetooth Sports Headphones

I wanted something for a similar situation, though now I'm trying to figure out if TVs typically have Bluetooth...sometimes I hate technology lol
