League Of Legends Catch All

Haven't read the patch preview but Akali is definitely a little broken right now. Even with light itemization her burst is just too obscene in the laning phase, and once she gets the gunblade it's extremely difficult to kill her without multiple hard disables. Stealth after going into her smoke bomb is also too fast, should take 4 points in the skill to get to the ~0.5s it is now at level 1).

In pub games all of this just leads to the bad players feeding her to the point where she's nigh unstoppable, and it's growing rather old.

Oracles Elixir is key so you can see her in her shroud. And yes, CC is the best against her (and anyone, for that matter). However, if you don't have a lot of CC, AoE damage is good too. Can't tell you how many times I've killed an Akali with Brand's Pillar or Amumu's Despair+Tantrum. Her shroud hides her well, but it forces her to stay in a defined zone (as long as you can tell she hasn't left the shroud area) that you can target.

But yeah her early game is insane. And if you give her a solo lane against 1 or 2 people who don't have CC, it's "gg".

She's very easy to counter in the long run, though, and veteran players can deal with her easily enough. That being said, if I see someone with the Oracle Elixir glow, they're my #1 priority as Akali.

Always tell your tanks to grab Oracle's if you face a good Akali.

Or just drop a pink ward in the middle of the next team fight, cheaper than an elixer and relatively the same effect.

Gangplank, Talon, and Kog'Maw got small nerfs. Orianna, Riven, and Shaco got tiny buffs.

Hextech Gunblade
Attack Damage reduced to 40 from 60
Ability Power reduced to 70 from 75
Life Steal reduced to 15% from 20%
Spell Vamp reduced to 20% from 25% and is now UNIQUE

Akali has basically been the same since they released her..

She's had like ... 3 small buffs, i wouldn't expect a direct nerf.
I think the combined nerfs to GB is a bit much.. but maby people will stop QQing about her.
The AD hit makes sense.. people abuse the crap out of it with its LS+akali passive..
spell vamp unique is also fine..
AP nerf seems meh.
LS nerf seems meh.

GP is going to be more top oriented then jungle now i presume..

And dominion changes:
-Ambient experience gain has been lowered by 10%
-Lowered the point where Nexus Health will only be affected by holding capture points (and not by Champion Kills or Neutralizes) to 100 Nexus Health from 125 Nexus Health
-Health Pack pickups will now grant 20% more Mana

-Personal Scoring has been adjusted to more evenly reward defensive play:
--Minion Kill reward increased to 2 points from 1
--Channel Interrupt reward increased to 5 from 2
--Martyr (dying on point) now gives an additional 10 points over its previous bonus
--Point defense bonus is granted more regularly
--There is now a score bonus associated with getting a Champion kill or assist while being on or near a point.

Poor guy.

I think these nerfs were primarily oriented toward Dominion from what they were saying in the video and if you think about it, it really makes sense, a lot of these people are the ones that are some of the most popular in Dominon games. Their range and/or speed helps you control the points a lot better.

Reinstalling after all the talk at penguincon.

I learned new and interesting things about picking up women at bars.

Graves looks like my kinda champ! Buying.

How did I get XP/IP reward minutes? I seem to have 158 of them and I assume that they give you a boost to your IP/XP rewards when you play.

That's the timer for how many minutes of XP/IP you have left. Once you pass level 10, you only get a certain amount per day for custom/vs. AI games.

So it's not really a bonus per se, but letting me know how much time I have left today to collect IP/XP? As in, after that, the games I play today only count for the fun of it and I get no XP/IP? Which only applies to custom/AI games, pvp still collects?

I was hoping for more akali specific nerfs...but maybe I just hate her.

Dominion is getting stale for me as well, although it's a fun place to try out a new champ. The game length makes it a good time for when I'm waiting for my buddies to finish a game.

On the nose.

The problem is not when I have a team of veteran players. The problem is when I'm queuing with my newish friend and random pubbies who don't care whether the team has enough disable or know how to deal with her. You have to keep a cool head to counter Akali, and she snowballs very quickly if allowed to feed. Pubbies feed. Hopefully the effect will be a little less pronounced with the Gunblade changes, but I'm still dreading those Mejai's/Sword of the Occult equipped Akalis devouring my hapless teammates over and over again while I grind my teeth and call out advice which is invariably ignored. With very rare exception, you can't count on a pubbie to ward or pick up Oracles, it always falls on you.

She reminds me of Twitch about 2 years ago before they nerfed Spray and Pray...he wasn't difficult to stop with a real team, but he would absolutely devour unskilled players and would snowball out of control to the point where he'd single-carry the game. I know that seems laughable given his current state, but those were the times. And just like Twitch back in the day, I rarely see a no-Akali game. Best I can hope for now is for my friend to learn quickly and work our way up to an ELO where we're more likely to have teammates interested in building balanced teams rather than just insta-locking their favorite carry.

And now that you're past 15, you should never play vs beginner bots again. Because you only have x amount of minutes of rewards, and beginner bot games are reduced an extra 25 or 50%, as you level up more.

If you want to mess around with a new champ, or new build, use intermediate bots.

Wait, Hexblade's Spell Vamps and Lifesteal weren't unique? DOH!!!!
I could've built 2 of those!!!

Alas...

Well, you said it: Pubbies feed. It doesn't really matter who you are, if you're fed you will dominate. I agree Akali gets strong in a hurry, but if your problems are pubbies feeding, then nerfing Akali won't help. Play with friends/vets! You'll also get the benefit of a commanding voting block in case things turn south.

RE: Akali and her Gunblades. Don't get too happy, the Gunblade was never really a core item for Akali, even though it was kind of broken. Her real core build focuses on AP as it makes her incredibly bursty. If she has Rylai's, Rabadon's, and Lich Bane she can kill any squishy in under 5 seconds.

So yeah, she'll still haunt you!

It's 2 different Akali problems people seem to be complaining about. She's incredibly bursty late (intended) she can heal herself back to almost full in Dominion, and or lane (not intended). These nerfs to gunblade were mainly in response to she could hold 1-2 dominion points by herself because of how much vamp and health she would generate.

And it's not only her. Honestly, Jax benefited more from the Gunblade nonsense, especially in Dominion. Remember, he relies on melee attacks more than Akali and he has no twilight shroud to help escape, thus exposing him to more harm. So the vamp/lifesteal was insane for him. I saw a Jax with 3 gunblades and he was completely unstoppable. It took 3 of us focusing all of our attention on him to kill him, and we only managed to do it twice. He could heal faster than anyone could hurt him.

Ya its not just her I agree, people just like to focus on her because she can be more difficult to deal with for newer people because of the shroud, so she gets more complaining.

Skarner's buffs seem impressive. Played him twice to good effect, but was against weaker teams.

Yeah, I am going to give him another try.

ranalin wrote:

Dude needs all the buffs he can get. He is one of the 5 worst champs in the game, if not the worst. I remember recently playing a game against a good Skarner. He went mid against a crap Ashe and dominated her and the lane. Got a ton of feed, was 3 levels higher than anyone, and was 3/0/7. However, he had to leave his lane once teamfights and ganking got started (he also took out mid tower and didn't want to push further, lest he get ganked). That's when he hit a wall. Against non-crappy players, he couldn't do anything at all. Ended up 4/7/8 or something and his team got rolled.

I just can't see how even the most skilled Skarner can do much of anything against good opposition. Hopefully these buffs will help him out.

Happy surprised that the rag tag team of Latrine, Strewth, Elysium, Nathanial and I managed to pull that game out last night. Xerath, so noob friendly.

Just reinstalled last night to fill a gaming void. Be kind. It's been a awhile

See everyone tonight.

Did anyone else buy Graves? I'm curious to hear what others think of him. He seems pretty strong to me so far. Nice escapes and high damage output.
