Gotta love progress!

I'll be posting something else in a couple days but I just wanted to share that I have been on 1.5MB internet for the past 2 years and I just got 40MB today! Now, some might say "Oh... 1.5MB is enough for the average household" and I would say.. BAH! Thats RIGHT! BAAAAHHH!!!

I work for MapQuest and most of the time from home. I also have a side business that is completely virtual. I also live in the mountains so I have to get a 3G extender for my cell phone to work here. Yea... we use a LOT of bandwidth here.

And 1.5MB is HHHEEELLLLLLLL!

BUT I JUST GOT 40MB WOOOOOOOOO

Thanks for listening Can you tell I posted this faster?

Cayne, I'm only doing this to make you feel ultra good about your company's connection. Here is the speed I register down here in Culver City:

I obviously have the wrong ISP...

Yeah, I'm on WiMax.

I. Hate. You.

What gets me is how your ISP's advertised speed has little or no relation to your actual speed. I typically get like 10 Mbps, which isn't bad or anything, but my ISP advertises "up to" 30. What other business gets to do that? When's the last time you went to the market, paid for "up to" three apples, and then they only gave you one?

Congrats on getting a better internet speed, I am thinking of upgrading soon.

Sadly, my speed is about the best I can get where I live. This is our local results and the first two aren't available at my address.

Also I have a 150gig cap.

Eh.

U-Verse ain't the worst. Better than TWC.

EDIT: *Sees Stone's* Well, maybe not.

Well, I had it in my head to come here and Female Doggo about Comcast, but after some of the other posts maybe not so much.

I think a more interesting test would be to have everyone post their results and how much they pay each month. I'm curious how much more certain speeds cost.

Also I have a 150gig cap.

I remember dealing with Bellsouth in South Miami/Pincerest for almost 15 years. Don't miss it at all.

Roadrunner in Kansas City is $50. No cable, phone, etc, just the internet.

Oh wow, you guys get internet in Mb/s now? I'm lucky to get over 300kb/s. Jerks.

Apparently this is pretty good for New Zealand

After taxes, I'm paying almost $60/month, and this is the best speed I could get after several tests. Not convinced that I'm getting a good deal for the money, but it's either this or sh*tty DSL.

I don't want to talk about this again.

Daaaaaaayuuuum...actually I thought it'd be worse....

IMAGE(http://www.speedtest.net/result/1536182204.png)

Better than what I used to have with AT&T DSL.

For living in the sticks, not too shabby. A year ago would have been worse, but our provider has been bumping us up for free.

Great news, Par! That's actually one of the reasons we're still close in. We're considering going out a bit west but I need my fat pipe, at least until I can go Office Space.

This is about $75/mo after taxes and fees. We pay a bit extra because we don't have Comcast TV.

Seriously, are some of you guys living in the future and posting here from a time machine to the past?

I'm actually 15 miles into the mountains about 25 miles west of Denver. I'm absolutely shocked they upgraded us but OH SO HAPPY!

The only thing sadder than your speed is the fact that you're 53% faster than the rest of Venezuela.
