Cowher would be fantastic news for Jags fans!

Jacksonville is not a marquee market by any stretch, but the Jacksonville head coaching job isn't a bad gig. It's much lower pressure and ownership is much more patient than other places - hence, Del Rio is the 3rd longest tenured coach in the league. Actually, he's tied with Marvin Lewis for that 3rd spot, and really, Jacksonville is a lot like Cincinnati except with ownership that pays for scouts and players.

Yeah, the Bengals get blacked out too.

Why would Cower go there? There's always been talk about this place or that place because of certain ties, but why would he go to Jacksonville outside of what you said above?

I really wouldn't know. I mean, he lives in North Carolina so there's a decent proximity thing going on there. I really don't know what would motivate him to get back into the NFL, I can just speculate on what attributes the Jaguars offer that may or may not appeal to him. I sort of get the feeling that he would want more of a "low-impact" spot versus a high pressure, New York kind of place, but that's entirely me guessing based on no evidence.

Aaron Curry has been traded to the Raiders for two picks. I think this is a smart move for the Raiders. Worth a flier to see if Curry can develop.

I think we needed the picks more than another linebacker. Unless the intent is to move closer to a 3-4 (Wasn't that why they traded for Seymour in the first place?)

As it stands now, we now have a 1st, 5th and 6th round pick in next years draft.. That's it.

Actually, good point. I was only thinking in terms of addition, not subtraction. The Raiders could use some another DB, not a LB.

That said, it appears Rolando McClain hurt his ankle (no idea how severe), so perhaps Curry is a better backup than the other people they brought in. Or maybe someone looked at Curry's 40 time and decided they just wanted him on the team. ;)

Well, according to these two articles, it does appear that the Raiders made a good move for Curry with very sound reasons:

While I also feel like Cower wouldn't want to coach in a place like New York, well, that's about the only hunch I have. That's why I asked.

Where are you seeing this anyway? I checked a number of sites and saw nothing. Was hoping for some specific rumor mongering, but alas ...

On PFT.

It's flimsy - like I said, Cowher rumors are a dime a dozen - but I like the idea.

Y'know, Indianapolis sounds about right for that sort of position...or maybe that's just me hoping :).

No way. You guys get to keep Caldwell Face.

Pop quiz: which of the following three faces is Jim Caldwell?

Awesome

Panthers at Falcons: Panthers. They've been more competitive than the Falcons have, so why not? They may also have a better QB. Muahaaahaahaha!

49ers at Lions: Lions at home give them the edge. The crowd is going to be insane. Plus, the Niners d is better against the run and the Lions have a better passing game than run game.

Browns at Raiders: Raiders. They run and don't pass. That's how you beat the Browns.

Texans at Ravens: Ravens have had two weeks to prepare and the Texans have lost their two best players. Ravens.

Wildcard: Minnesota at Chicago. Let's go Bears at home. AP probably won't be able to run quite as effectively as he did last week.

Oh yeah I should get my picks in so I can hold onto last place.

Panthers at Falcons

49ers at Lions

Browns at Raiders

Texans at Ravens

Wildcard:

Cowboys at Patriots

My picks:

Panthers at Falcons
49ers at Lions
Browns at Raiders
Texans at Ravens

Hmm all home picks so I need an away pick for my wildcard, no cop-out Packers pick for me! Eagles at Redskins, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Redskins win.

So... that birthday present from a few weeks back is tomorrow. Bucs-Saints tickets!

Although I don't know what to do about going to a 4:15pm game. Going to miss all the 1pm fun. Will be missing RedZone...

Packers
Lions
Raiders
Ravens

Wild Card Pick LOL!!! Eagles

New England over Dallas

YEAH! 49ers held the Lions to a FG from 1st and goal at the 5.

Yeah, but their offense is in line to set a record for most false start penalties.

Well Gore just has to run 47 yards, then they are ok.

TD!

On that note, time to head to Tampa. Have fun all, I'll probably check in at the game at some point.

I'm never picking the Panthers again. Ever.

Jacksonville made a game of it at the end, but geez, Monroe and Britton need to get back on the field. The offensive line is a joke without them.

Wow, the Lions appear to have completely given up at the end of the game. Thus ends any chance I had of cheering for them for the rest of the season.

And Jim Schwartz just plain don't like Jim Harbaugh.
