Batman: Arkham City Catch-All

It's not strange at all, in that case. They're hyping up a feature and then telling you that you need to buy new or pay $10 to get it. That's just advertising.

So it's just like EASports' online pass, or the ME2 Cerberus thing. If you buy it new, you get it included, if you buy it used, you have to pay. All in the name of stopping used game sales. ;)

Well, not just advertising, they'd see it as revenue protection. Stave off lost sales on used and/or rental copies.

I've been tempted to Redbox this to start the 360 version, even though I've got the PC version ordered from Green Man Gaming for sub $30 after discounts and referral bonuses.

After all, I played both the 360 and PC versions of the first to completion, loving it both times.

But with Rage and Deus Ex still needing to be finished, I think I can hold out.

I feel like Cartman waiting for the Wii. IS IT THE 18TH YET? UGH

Saw this on Stana Katic and Molly Quinn (both from TV series Castle) twitter timeline just now.

I believe Ms Stana Katic is voicing a character in the game

Spoiler:

Talia Al Ghul

Hah, I liked that commercial. Good silly fun

I didn't expect much, if anything, from that commercial. I was pleasantly surprised and may have even chuckled aloud a few time.

Good job, Batman Commercial Makers.

It's a nice counter-point to those standup cardboard characters they have outside every GameStop that have Batman in black and white with blood-spattered knuckles, or Joker in black and white with green blood all over his face and hands.

I have a question that's a little off topic, but since i can't find the answer anywhere i thought i may as well ask here.

With regards to Sony's new ToS: Do i have to agree to that if i want to register a game code or get a game patch?

TBH i don't think it's fair if i do... but it wouldn't surprise me if it was the case :/

I don't know, but I'd assume that you have to accept any new ToS to get online at all.

I thought the Sony thing had an opt out by snail mail option?

I'm going to opt out from Europe through an archaic form of contact despite them having my email address on file? Mailing them and spending the not insignificant amount of money on doing that is not an option.

TBH i don't think *they can or should be legally able to block me from content on one side or the other by using a ToS that does not apply to that content. i.e. If i buy a game on a disc, the content i have bought should not be governed by a service that i don't use or want to use because of the ToS.

*either the game publisher or Sony - depending on which side you look at it from

I thought I read somewhere that the nasty ToS doesn't apply in Europe. Anyway, I dunno, I opted out via snails.

I'm well and truly annoyed, because I'd planned on giving this a rent or a borrow until my budget was less tight, which is going to make the Catwoman chapters a problem...

Same as in the states - "legally untested" is the current status. The few cases that have gone to court have either been settled outside or have not had conclusive judgement on the validity of this sort of ToS change or terms.

AT&T just won a SCOTUS case saying arbitration clauses were enforceable. So I wouldn't say it was untested in the US.

Giant Bomb's Jeff Gerstmann gave it 5 stars.

Eurogamer: 9/10

A very positive review.

Ah, yeah. I forgot about that. :/

About the key on video cards: Do those include the online/catwoman-pass-thingy?

Damn, another game that is killing it in the reviews. I really liked the first one and this one looks like it takes allot of the mechanics to the next level. I'm trying very hard to hold off purchasing until I have time. This is quickly becoming the best holiday season for quality releases and the worst season for my wallet.

Edit: Gametrailers review

I think the GT score was 9.3.

9.2 to 9.4 about.

Oddly enough, all of these reviews are making it easier to pass on this game for now. It sounds like this is a slightly improved, expanded Arkham Asylum. That's great, but I just played Arkham Asylum a couple months ago, so I'm not really craving more just yet.

IGN: 9.5

CVG: 9.5

Game Informer: 10/10 -- "the best use of a license in the industry's history."

Gamespot: 9.0

Gamespot's only knock was that "boss fights are too easy". I count that as a plus.

It was a 9.3. I don't find their reviews too spoilery but I know everyone has a different bar set to what a spoiler is. I didn't see much more then I had already read / saw in magazines previously.

Anyways, the part that has me the most excited is the bigger focus on the upgrade system. I like my gadgets!

It's a new copy so there's no reason it wouldn't. I'm fairly sure the online pass only really applies to consoles considering you can't buy used PC copies.

That's pretty much the way it's always been. The passes are really a way to get money out of used buyers (or renters) that would never give any revenue to the publisher/developer.

It's almost as if they're aiming the ad at normal folks. Madness.

Same here. Especially after the epic battle (not in a good way) that as Poison Ivy.

Watched the latest trailer and read the feature article on it in last month's Edge. What can I say: I'm jelly.
