NFL 2011 Week 5

I knew I was forgetting something, I forgot to make my picks!

Saints at Panthers - this one already started so forget it (I would have taken the Saints)
Buccaneers at 49ers
Packers at Falcons
Bears at Lions

There are only two other late games to pick from, so I will go with Chargers at Broncos.

The Titans defense must have decided to take the week off. Ben is throwing the ball all over the place and Redman is running over the D line.

They're making me regret dumping Hines Ward.

Break up the Chiefs!

The Eagles ... man, sorry if you're a fan as you're probably dead from a heart attack.

Regarding the "crappy play because of the short offseason" discussion, I have never seen so many long TDs because of completely blown coverages. I don't know how many times I've seen a completely uncovered WR catch it and waltz into the end zone.

Just win, baby!

Texans. They are who we thought they were. Ugh.

Is NY/NE always this kind of hilarious penalty-fest? If so, I'm sad they haven't aired the matchup here in the past.

Oh ye of little faith.

Well since everyone in the AFC south lost it's like this week never happened.......yeah..never happened..

Yay! More penalties!

Zero to Unnecessary Roughness in no time flat.

I'm going to keep repeating the "short offseason, can't take the early part of the season seriously" mantra over and over, because maybe that will keep me from sobbing about how Josh Freeman has been playing this year. Two inexplicably awful first-half picks. Last year his decision making was pretty much perfect, this year he's forcing the ball left and right.

With Matthews out, I just want to watch the Chargers and Broncos beat the living sh*t out of each other and get half their teams kicked out.

Their play today was not impressive. With Baltimore and Tennessee up next and us without a real receiving threat I think we're in trouble.

Raheem Morris just got dinged for an unsportsmanlike penalty and...wait, do my eyes deceive me or is that the Tim Tebow fellow I keep hearing about?

I called that the Bucs were gonna lose ... but I didn't think they'd get killed like this.

48-3 and I'm missing it?!

I was gonna write about how frustrating it was to watch 3rd down passes ricochet off the hapless hands of inept Jag receivers.

But this week, I'm just gonna be here for Milkman.

Who knew that the way to win for Minny was to give the ball to AP? Shocking! (Also, thank god I wasn't playing against him in FF.)

I didn't watch every snap, but it seemed to me that the Raiders d-line was the reason the pass game was pretty crappy. Yeah, not the two best teams to play coming up. Maybe Johnson will recover faster than expected. One can hope ... right?

Maybe Andy Reid will finally get fired. I mean an o-line coach promoted to d-cordinator only makes sense in his crazed universe

You may find this interesting then. Florio put Reid in his top 5 coaches on the hot seat.

Honestly, it went downhill so quickly it wasn't that bad; it became ludicrous and I stopped caring.

Also, the 49ers went for it on 4th and 2 up 38 points with five minutes left in the game. I may have made a series of unflattering comments about Jim Harbaugh's maternal ancestry at that point; seriously, was that at all necessary?

At least I'm not an Eagles fan.

I know I've already committed myself to being here for you, but that action was my boy Colin Kaepernick getting some game experience, so I'm having a hard time working up the requisite indignation.

(Completely a side note, do not include this in my picks):
Upset Pick of the Week: Broncos over Chargers
Chargers are notorious for blowing similar games early in the season, and I think Kyle Orton shows the Denver fans who the best QB on the roster is..........................either that, or Tebow comes in and shocks the Chargers (like how I slipped that pun in there?)

Broncos get beat by more than 20 points.

Well, had Fox stuck with the qb that gave the broncos the best chance to win, my prediction would have been right on the money. But the he had to go and insert Tebow, and (bad passes and all) he nearly won the game for them. Oh well...

I was disappointed... I actually had a reason to cheer those last ten minutes, and that made me late for dinner. I had not anticipated that.

But he JUST WINS!

He's liek a keed out dere!

I feel bad for GG as a die hard Eagles fan, but gleeful because I loathe Vick with a blind passion. The Bills are my feel good team and with the Colts basically a bad college team they are the team I am really pulling for.

Well Tebow was certainly not a good QB, but he did appear to be a very serviceable wildcat QB. The interesting thing that people should be talking about is how much the rest of the Bronocos stepped up once Orton went out. The Broncos D was considerably more aggressive and had new life in that second half. Not too forget the o-line play where Tebow had 5+ seconds each time to miss his targets. Not to be a Tebow-apologist but it certainly seemed like the Bronoco WRs had trouble catching his throws. I'm not a throwing expert so I'll let someone smarter then me say it was because Tebow threw a wobbly ball or it was a team-wide case of the dropsies.
