WOW- BHA guild offer and info

Pages

Hi all-

Your friendly neighborhood BHA guildmaster here bringing you an opportunity to come join us playing some World of Warcraft. For those of you who are without a home on your servers across the realms, we at BHA on the blackhand server would welcome any goodjer who wants to be a part of the mix.

Some current info about us:

*** We raid 2 to 3 times a week. Progression and alt runs occur.
*** We are knuckleheads and have a relaxed environment to play in.
*** We require respect for each other and all the good natured ribbing that goes along with it. (seems I get the most of it though)
*** We are home to casual players, raiders, and social butterflies.

So, if you aren't getting what you need, come try us out. If you are new, returning, or looking for some stable opportunities,
we are always looking for some goodjers to join us. Send me a PM if you have questions or answers (I need those too).

Plus the guild has me! Duh.

Lil'Bean and I just started accounts and we have characters in the mid-twenties. We're a pair of dwarven hunters and enjoy PvE and exploring. We don't intend to raid, just log on when we can and have some fun. Would it be OK for us to join the guild?

Absolutely. We have several that can invite when you are logged in. Do a /who gwj and ask someone to steer an inviter your way.

It would be preferred!
You get a 10% XP bonus for being a part of the guild, so it is beneficial. Plus we can hook you up with some free bags and stuff.

Will do! Looking forward to it. I know Blackhand is Alliance only guild, but I also have a Horde/Undead character on the server. Oh well, forever alone guy.

Now, I also have a few lower level characters and a Banker in Stormwind. At what level do you want them to apply for membership?

Actually, I have two Horde types, an Undead Hunter and a Troll Warlock, both in thier 20's.

Also, is there a good thread on Add Ons I could browse? I have Auctioneer loaded, but that's it at this point. I need something for my action bars.

You can join at level 1. There are no prereqs for joining aside from having an account here at the site.

When ZeroKFE wakes up he'll prob post a 10k word dissertation on Hunter add-ons. Or link to one he's previously made.
He's our resident Hunter professional.

I've been trying to tell them that Horde is cooler

For an action bar addon you can check out Bartender. You can totally customize how and where you want your bars to be and it makes keybindings a snap.

You can get the Curse Client from curse.com and it will install/update your addons without you having to copy and paste.

Also, on the WoW page on Curse, you can peruse through some of the highly rated addons just to get a feel of what's out there.

After you start piling on some addons, you may wanna make an auction/bank alt. Auctioneer can eat up some RAM that is unnecessary while you are traversing Azeroth so it can be easier to just have a dedicated toon for auctioning....that and you don't have someone that hates your prices hounding you on a toon you are trying to lvl.

Cool beans! I made a Pally last night after talking to a friend and she was all "Palladins are gods and can kill/heal/make donuts like nothing else!! OMFG!1!" (She's so cute when she gets all worked up.) So, being an altaholic, I had to try one. Now, I need a add-on or macro to swap from sword & board to 2-H Hammer.

I have bankers on both Alliance and Horde side, using Auctioneer, and I'm making good money selling hides and herbs as well as other items I pick up. (Cats, Owls and other pets/companions, components and recipes I find at different vendors.)

Most of my addons are just general stuff -- button bar mod (bartender is definitely highly recommended), cast bar mod, FuBar and a billion plugins for that, IceHud, and unit frames mod, etc. The only thing I have that's particularly hunter specific is my PowerAuras setup, but that's a general mod too, I just have it heavily configured to help me keep my eyes in the middle of the screen while managing my shot rotation. Really, though, while you are leveling just a button bar mod should more than suffice.

Actually, probably the biggest hunter specific tip I can give is to set up keybinds for pet movement, and learn to not rely on the pet AI. They've made improvements there, but learning to think of your pet as something you have direct control over is one of the best skills you have have for hunter leveling/soloing. I personally bind Z to send pet, X to recall pet, and shift-X to the targeted pet movement ability.

From a macro perspective, you can do it, but it's a little maintenance heavy, since you have to edit things every time the item changes. 16 is main hand, 17 is off-hand.

/equipslot 16 Greater Scythe of the Wolf /equipslot 17 Razor Blade of Power

Apparently you can also macro equipment sets, if you want to set things up that way.

/equipset axe-mh

With the equipment set though, you may need to create two sets that are identical aside from the weapons to make it work consistently. If other things are different, you'll at least get an error if you try it in combat telling you that you can't switch armor, and it might actually go ahead and switch it after combat's over (I don't recall exactly what happens).

WoW now has a built-in gear-switching function these days. Check your character panel. Unless you've changed your key bindings, hit C to bring it up. It's one of the tabs off your main screen.

So I've finally taken the plunge and rolled a new character on Blackhand (Myriella, worgen druid), and sent tundra a request for an invite. I already have several 85s on another server, but now I can finally meet the GWJers in the flesh ... er, pixels.

We would love to have you join us. We will get youan invite soon.

I'm pretty active again...Can you put Andon and Jadamie on the active roster.

I usually play on the weekends, hoping to get to see the 70s this time.

Tundra,

If you can send invites, I've got Mundor (Dwarven Hunter) and Lyonroar (Human Paladin) ready to join. And Lil'Bean has Seanna (Dwarven Hunter) and Gwennethe (Gnome Warlock).

Mundor and Seanna run together, as do Lyonroar and Gwennethe.

I have an auctioneer, Talhoffer, if you want to add him. Since I have him stationed in Stormwind, he'd be able to hit the vault/bank better than the others. Up to you.

Marsman, I'll be online at 4:30 Central. Shoot me a message in-game, and I'll get all your toons invited.
I'm Lawkjaw in-game.
If I don't' catch you, most of the crew able to do invites will be online around 7-7:30 server time (Central).

Great! I'll look for you. I wasn't sure if you could send invites if the character was off-line.

Mundor

That would be a nice feature for Blizz to add. I'm sure that the problem would be idiots spamming invites to people's mail boxes non-stop though.

One thing for fence-sitters to consider is that in 4.3, the Raid Finder will allow GWJ to fill any size of raiders up to 25 once a week using it. So, as long as you're level 85 and reach a certain minimum item level, you'll be able to queue up with us!

Without pouring through all the recent patch notes was there(i know there was talk) and is it implemented that you can do cross-realm raids with the battle.net friends? If that is the case I would not be adverse to giving out my ID to a few folks so you can bolster your raid roster.

I have a personal guild with the family now on Cairne that I am finding interesting to try and level up. It is level 2 with almost teetering on 3 at the moment. I don't really want to leave it right now but I may decide to at some point. Plus to realm transfer the toons I have would be a little pricy. I have a Prot Pally Brilicus and a MM Hunter Fathgar. I also have a 80 lock that I am getting around to leveling again as well so I will have a second DPS soon.

Yes, the cross realm invite for Real ID friends is already live, as far as I know. I'd have to go digging in blue posts to confirm this.

You can't queue up for a raid with LFR but you can for LFD as it sits now.

Welcome to the Light Dark Side! Muahahaha. I used to play a Ret Pally, both back in Wrath of the Lich King and more recently in Cataclysm. Ret DPS in raids became way more satisfying recently when I didn't feel like a second-class citizen DPS. If you get to raiding, you'll have fun.

It's also more interesting DPS than the other DPS I've tried, in that it's WAY more chaotic. If you're going to stick with the Paladin and are interested in Ret, look for a FCFS addon (FCFS is "First-Come, First-Serve"). It will basically tell you how to play your class. Oh, and if you're a clicker, get out of that habit now, while you can. Use your number keys!

My two other DPS classes were a Balance Druid and an Arcane Mage. Arcane is literally two, and occasionally three, buttons. Balance is about five buttons, but you mainly use three, and you have to watch your timing a little more closely. Ret Pally is about six buttons and you're always doing something different each time you cast. ALWAYS. I can't think of any occasion when you followed up one cast with the same one. Based on the priority, whatever is off cooldown is up next.

I'm probably getting way ahead of you... Raiding is a very different animal from where you are now. Just enjoy leveling, and keep the pally!

Thanks ELewis17 and zeroKFE for taking the time to getting all my characters added and Lil'Bean's as well.

Bean and I were freakin' out last night. We were out in the Wetlands hunting some raptors when the sky turned red. We look at each others screens, thinking maybe there's something wrong with the video. All of a sudden, WHOOSH!!!, a huge dragon flys over and instantly fries us. When we spawn in the graveyard, the whole area is on fire and continues to burn for a couple of minutes. I was able to find my body get into an open area and resurect, but Bean was really shook up and didn't want to respawn with the fires still burning. I convionced her it was OK and we mounted up our goats and dodged burning areas on our way back to The Green Belt, but it was on fire too. We had to wait for the fires to die down before we could enter town. Very cool encounter! I don't think there was any way for us to avoid being incinerated. Anyone else have an encounter like this?

That was introduced with Cataclysm, Deathwing is who fried you. You should have received an achievement for it as well. You guys actually were kinda "lucky" in a sense, it happens to a random zone in the game every once in awhile, so it is actually pretty rare to get hit by it.

Thanks ELewis17 and zeroKFE for taking the time to getting all my characters added and Lil'Bean's as well.

Yes, we did get an achievement for it. As one of the guildies online said, it's something to tell the grandkids about.

@ Mars: A couple of things to help your profession leveling, if you haven't seen 'em already:

wow-professions.com: A good basic all-around guide for all of your profession leveling needs.

Skillet: My favorite profession add-on now that ATSW bit the dust. It has a handy bar that shows when items go from orange to yellow to green (and gray).

I see that you're leveling enchanting, right? Holler at when you need to upgrade your enchanting rods. I've got mats and rods unless you want to be like other suckers players and pay my inflated AH prices for 'em.

I made a Gnome Priest called Toylet. Got invited to the guild by someone that was on, what rank do I need to be to freeload grepairs? :p
