Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad (RO2)

Were you guys aware that you can still play the beta? Yeah, neither was I, but apparently that's where they're testing to fix stats and the no sound bug. Well, I'm certainly glad that they're on the verge of fixing stats, though I was enjoying being level 89.

Anyway, keep an eye out for the stats fix. I for one will be glad when it happens, though I suppose I imagine my 20+ hours in-game will be rendered null.

They opened it up again. I guess it's a better move to have a stable and in development versions if there's a lot to change.

Count me in for Monday nights. This game is still very frustrating for me since I keep dying. Hopefully the goojer experience will help. At least I'll know my executioners.

Cool beans. My FPS is in the high 50s and low 60s when playing at 'High' settings. Liking it now. So, we play Monday nights?

Monday is the preferred, but every night is possible.

There will be a stats reset this week and it will effect everything, resetting achievements and player progression as well as stats. Everyone who has the game before the reset will get double experience for a period of time and a special achievement (possibly with some reward attached to it down the line).

The other interesting bit there is how well RO2 sold, bringing in more money than RO's entire lifetime by 2 days after launch and outselling Killing Floor's launch week three times over during the same period.

The patch this week that should fix and reset stats is a major one:

So in summary here is what you can expect:
1) Graphical Improvements in some lighting conditions
2) Improved performance in nearly every map
3) Stats/achievements systems fixed
4) Fix of the sound loss on map change (again... this time with feeling)
5) Several minor performance enhancements in code

YES! I've been wanting to love this girl but she doesn't do it for me. I hope by dolling her up (with patches? Yikes!) it'll bring back that honeymoon experience.

I need reminding on game nights. I get involved in Madden and forget. Someone hop on Live and drag me out if you don't see me on Steam.

I popped on a few times last night but didn't see much going on (actually couldn't find the server at one point) and then Witcher 2 sucked me in. Hopefully the extra experience rewards will motivate me to get on more often go-forward.

Where or what is the info for the GWJ server, thanks!

EDIT: Also, tough to play! Very confusing when your team has multiple color names above their heads!

GWJ Server is the unranked server Gamers with Jobs Official. No password. I haven't seen a lot of traffic there outside of scheduled events but you can jump on and check out the maps.

The enemy has no names above their heads, so keep that in mind. In case you didn't figure it out yet green is your squad, orange is your commander and red is everyone else on your side.

georob answered the other part.

Okay, that large RO2 just patch came out, weighing in at 3.4 GB.

The stats reset will take place sometime tomorrow morning/afternoon time.

Stats
-Fixed stats and acheivements being awarded when they shouldn't have been and sometimes not saving stats on ranked servers. This requires a global stat and achievement reset which will be happening soon.
-Fixed several number display issues in the profile menu and after action report
-Honor, class, and weapon experience are all currently doubled to help make up for stats lost to the reset
-A new achievement has been added which is unlocked simply by playing RO2 during the double xp for players affected by the stat reset

Gameplay
-Reloading can be interrupted by melee or switching weapons
-Fixed quick grenade not returning to the previously equipped weapon
-Fixed team wounding counting as kill
-Fixed kill assists not showing up all the time
-Fixed Countdown Time to Beat being always 0
-Fixed timers showing wrong numbers in the single player campaign
-Fixed tank AI being able to see through smoke
-Fixed tank cannon smoke shells not blocking any AI vision

Stability & Performance
- Major optimization pass on all maps should increase performance across the board
- Reduced Alt-Tab crashing
- Fixed post-processing preset resetting itself in the video settings menu
- Fixed glowing outline/rainbow colors around the screen for certain machines
- Fixed a bug causing all audio to cut out after a map change
- Graphical improvements to environments, weapons and vehicle interior - areas or vehicles/weapons not in direct sunlight now have working specularity which will help make normal maps more visible and textures to look less flat
- New Umbra release and optimization
- General CPU optimizations

Server
-Fix for commandline setting of webadmin values not saving after multiple map changes

Oh good. I hope this patch turns my milk-toast affection for Red Orchestra into a raging river of raw love.

That's what's been eating my bandwidth all night. Only 41% there.

I'll be playing tomorrow evening, I'm sure. Can't wait to see how well I do with level zero everything.

Big mea culpa email from Tripwire today. Stats wiped, but douple XP next few weeks. Good time to get in.

"We have now fixed all of the major issues with the stats system and released an update yesterday to address these issues. Due to the problems with stats and players either earning stats and achievements that they didn't actually earn or earning stats at many times the intended rate, we are going to have to do a global reset of all stats for the game. This means all achievements, stats and player progression will be rolled back as if all players were new. This was not an easy decision for us to make, but one we felt we needed to do to preserve the integrity of the stats and ranking system, and to provide all of the players the best experience with the game over the long term. Knowing that there are people that have been playing the game for a few weeks now and will lose the stats for that time we are going to provide a special bonus to all players. For the next few weeks all players will earn double experience in Red Orchestra 2. This means if a player plays the game during the double experience period they will quickly get their experience up to where they would have been had these issues never existed. Additionally, we are going to give those playing the game during the double experience period a special achievement called "In B4 Reset". Right now this is just an achievement, but we're going to be looking at ways to give special rewards to the players that have this achievement in the future."

I'll be playing tonight. Come join the re-leveling up process.

It does feel a lot better now.

Drinking or no.

You are too late SpyNavy, and drinking is always a yes.

Yeah, totally drinking. Alcohol is the reason I wasn't playing Dark Souls.

garion and Hockosi were flirting so much as they killed each other tonight, I was embarrassed.

Digital Deluxe edition: does it make a difference?

Dude, it was all about his mom. I don't know what flirting you were talking about outside of that. Unless it was the point where I insisted he call me Peppermint. Well then ...

Not really. I bought it for beta access. At this point it's just things you'll unlock through the game (like a bayonet).

The game is much improved with the patch. Still a few bugs but I had fun playing this evening and the stats tracking issue seems to be resolved. No crashes and very little lag. The biggest issues I see now are with the spawn queue. When you get bumped out of a role by another player's promotion, the game doesn't give you a notification, so you may sit through a round or two of respawns before you realize you need to go pick another class.

Stats seem to still be broken...
I ranked up one of my guns twice and it didn't go through to my profile.

Yay!

Also +150 ping on EVERY server

We were definitely having ping issues last night. Start out on a server at 80 or so, but then we'd ALL be 250+. Weird.
