Batman: Arkham City AUS OPM Review 10/10

"Batman: Arkham City is not only the best superhero game ever made, it's one of the best games ever made full-stop. It takes the already superlative original and gloriously expands on it. It's a deeper game, more complex, more inventive, more mature. It brings the caped crusader's world to life better than any comic, movie or television show before it."

Oh my.

Until a goodjer with taste says this, I don't believe. Although I will probably be a day 1 purchase on this one.

Arkham Asylum is* one of the best games ever made so I'm buying into the hype 100%.

*In my opinion. And man do I have good taste.

I WANT TO PUNCH DUDES ARGHHHHH why can't it be 2 weeks from now?

I don't know if you have good taste or not, but your opinion of Batman AA is certainly indicative of a man with good taste.

And I 100% agree. Batman AA was my 2000's game of the decade, and I rank it in the top 5 games of all time.

I seem to recall Cartman having a similar problem.

And we know how that turned out. *queues Buck Rogers theme track*

How do I know this game will be fun? Because I just canceled my pre-order for it. That guarantees that it'll be awesome, because I hate fun.

In retrospect, Arkham Asylum had enough weaknesses, and the things they've announced for this game have given me just enough reservations, that I'm comfortable playing pile games for a bit to see how this one pans out with people whose opinions I trust.

All I know is that the video of a gliding batman makes me very happy. I love to glide in games.

My job here is done.
/flies away.

So any news on why this isn't available to pre-order on steam yet?

This is the freakin' Batman we're talking about in this thread! You're not suppose to fly away, you're just suppose to vanish as soon as everyone turns their heads!

Anticipation...

Valve hasn't closed the deal on DLC yet...

It is strange. I know it will be on steam, the free copies given away with new Nvidia cards are steam codes. Why it's not for pre-order yet, I have no idea.

That doesn't necessarily mean it will be available to buy on Steam. Space Marine is a steamworks game that needs Steam to run and yet can't be bought on Steam in the UK. Sometimes things like this just don't make sense.

And we have Robin footage:

I hate to say it, but Robin looks like a fun diversion from the main game. I hope it becomes available to everyone down the line.

Well, I guess I don't *hate* to say it, but you know.

Yeah, well, I'm still waiting for the Joker challenge levels in Arkham Asylum to become available on other platforms...

Edit: Looks like Nightwing is lurking in game too

Preordered on GMG for $34! Can't beat that. I don't mind downloading through Capsule, hope everything runs smoothly though.

Now to wait until Nov 8th... and finish it within 3 days in time for Skyrim

I'm not sure if Nov 8th is accurate. I hope so, but Amazon is showing Nov 15th for the PC version

Could be, I think that is what the WBShop.com and GMG are saying. Anyways, we will see. In any case, November is going to be awesome for gaming!

Weird, I thought it was 10/18.

Console versions. PC was delayed.

Ah, phew! The one that counts is still on time.

Spoiler:

Just kidding!

Just kidding? What, they delayed the console version, too?

It's purely a marketing move. PC gamers have a need to really hammer every new game that comes out for something. Even the great games. By delaying the game, they can just let the PC gamers complain about not getting it sooner. It's pure genius.

Actually, it just gives them time to complain about this:

Batman online pass unlocks Catwoman

Warner Bros. has confirmed to Eurogamer that the Batman: Arkham City VIP pass unlocks playable Catwoman content.

On Xbox 360 the Batman VIP pass costs 800 Microsoft Points. On PlayStation 3 it costs £7.99.

Warner issued Eurogamer the following statement: "Further to your story, players who purchase previously owned copies of Batman: Arkham City can access the playable Catwoman content for £7.99/ 800 Microsoft Points.

"Playing as Catwoman is not required to complete the game."

Amazon.co.uk are showing 8th November and aren't GMG a UK company?

It is, we got a call from the CC company because I made a purchase in the UK.

So it's just like EASports' online pass, or the ME2 Cerberus thing. If you buy it new, you get it included, if you buy it used, you have to pay. All in the name of stopping used game sales.
