Assassin's Creed Revelations

Hey, I remember in Monkey Island, Guybrush would simply carry a humongous ladder in his pocket and just whip it out (the ladder) whenever he needed it. Who says Ezio can't do the same?

Although given his age, maybe it should be a Zimmer frame instead. :D

Or a trebuchet.

hmm...not commented in this yet. Tagged. I managed to play 2 and Brotherhood off borrowed copies, but I may just shell out for this one.

Dub step?

It's where you have a medium-fast techno song that is heavy on percussion, 8-bitty synthesizers, and heavily-processed soft-sung female vocals. Then, as soon as you're in danger of actually enjoying the music, the drums drop into half-time and annoying wobble bass starts playing very very loudly. sh*t is all over Top 40 radio these days, as well as Assassin's Creed trailers.

New gameplay vid. Really looking forward to this. I'm hoping that Ubi releases this on the PC at the same time this time... but I won't hold my breath.

Did anyone else think this was actually a very poor demo video? Maybe it's just the way they edited it together, but it looked boring and overly scripted. Plus the water wheel was going the wrong direction. Castles were supposedly on high alert but the guards were still just standing still, facing the other way waiting to be shanked. Ezio can now make bombs, which just confirms the trend away from stealth and more toward high body count that the series has taken in general. The big scary boss taunts and taunts Ezio but when it comes to actually fighting he isn't even carrying a sword to defend himself.

Again, probably just the editing, but I wouldn't want to show that video in its current state if I were the producers.

It wasn't fantastic by any means, but didn't really bother me. It was just nice to see more about the game.

The bombs should be interesting in that they might add another element to gameplay. It doesn't bother me to have it in there, as there is always the option to not use them. Honestly, I can say that I never really used the hidden pistol in Brotherhood. But I didn't mind having it if I needed it.

I'm just looking forward to it to continue the story and find out what happens next. The gameplay is fun, but the story is the part that has it's hooks (hidden hook blade) into me.

My worry is that they might start to rely too much on scripted events. Hopefully they see the danger of that themselves.

The PC version launches on 2nd December 2011

Assassin's Creed: Knights of the Pelican and Eagle just doesn't roll off the tongue as well, does it?

I can't tell if Clockwork's image is satire or real.

It's satire. The real ones have the Freemasons running everything. Because everyone knows that old men that need to get away from their wives rule the world.

I'm sure that someone believes it. The site I pulled it from seemed to take it seriously.

Where does a fighter/mage fall on this?

PC version is delayed till December. Can't say I'm to surprised.

Like I said:

If the Illuminati really had witches, you'd think they could get it pushed back until at least January. I highly doubt anyone of them is above the rank of Minerval II.

Honestly, we were all expecting it. But only 2 week delay is actually kind of lenient. I expected January. At least they aren't supplying the "needs more polish" line which is nice.

So you can now pre-order on steam

Niiiice. I miss being Ezio.

Speechless.

So here's a loaded question: So far I have played all the Creed games on the 360. But I have a new computer that can handle new games now. Is there any reason to prefer the PC version over the console version, other than the usual "mouse versus couch?"

Well I use a 360 gamepad on the PC versions. The main reason I prefer PC over 360 is that it looks nicer. Resolution is greater and it just handles so much nicer too. Feels smoother. Plus games are usually cheaper on steam too so if you can grab them on sale, even better.

It definitely looks nicer on PC. They did a SUPERB job on the PC port for Asscreed Bros. It has the best implementation of Eyefinity that I've seen from a PC game so far. Also (I mentioned this in the Asscreed Bros thread) the mouse/keyboard implementation is better than the controller implementation in my opinion. I played it both ways. The main reason m/k is better in this game is when you are jumping from things like pylon to pylon. It's WAY less frustrating. I had times when I was jumping from pylon to pylon in water and with the controller it was very easy to just jump in the completely wrong direction. That's completely frustrating. With a mouse, they let you jump in the direction you are looking, and it just makes everything much easier and less frustrating.

If you just want to play it on the couch, though, I don't see any reason not to just get the console version. There are pros/cons to whatever choice you make.

I just saw that this game does not require the permanent active connect, so that's nice. (I know Ubisoft has wavered on this point from time to time)

Ass Creed Bros didn't require it either. I don't know if I would have bought it on PC otherwise. I played it quite a bit from my laptop w/o an internet connection. I'm glad they are apparently sticking with the same formula for Revelations. I hadn't checked.

I only though it was important to note it because Driver: SF apparently has the constant internet connection thing, at least the last time I checked.

Ya know, I really don't mind the constant internet connection thing except for the fact that I've got a lot of bus riding downtime where I can play on my laptop to and from work. I understand, but it is a bit inconvenient for single player games in my case.

Wait... did they fix the mouse acceleration? I found that to be the most annoying part and the reason why I went with the controller.

Also... how does one play Assassin's Creed on a laptop... while on a bus?!?!? Now that is skill!

I don't remember having a problem with the mouse acceleration. I don't know if they changed it from when it released. I just may not have noticed it because it's not an FPS.

I have an M11x that I bring with me to work. I just plug a 360 controller into it, and it works like a charm. Played a bunch of Rage on the way home today. I have about a 1.5 hour bus ride to and from work, so that's nearly 3 hours I can spend on gaming.
