Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad (RO2)

It might just be janky for you for the time being, unfortunately.

As far as the sp tank mission goes ... sorry, haven't played it.

I think a good test will be to drop every setting into the basement and then check with FRAPS. That'll show me there is nothing I can do to improve performance and I should wait for a good round of spanking, er, patching.

Are you talking about the training mission? You need to switch to the HE shells, tanks use AP by default. I believe the 6 key should switch between them, though it might be the middle mouse button.

No I got that part. It's when I am told to blow up the houses when in the gunner position. I do that and then some but then I can't switch positions within the tank. And when all homes go boom nothing happens.

I also recall ordering some dudes around but I don't know if this pertains to the boys inside MY tank or other tanks/infantry somewhere on the map.

I am missing an order to follow or I don't know the key to bring up the next objective.

MANUAL!! I needs 'em.

Now for the positive.

Wow. Sniping. It's awesome. Hard to describe but what the heck; I feel the rifle has weight. And sighting in a target? It feels good when I connect with a moving foe and see them slump or gently collapse when the round connects. Actually it looks horrifying but feels great. I'm twisted.

I've had bugs like that with other training missions, I think it is just buggy scripting and you'll have to try again.

The tank squad commands work like with infantry, it all depends who you have selected with X. So it can be your tank, another tank, or all tanks.

right there with ya. know you're on a roll when you see a spray of blood hang in the air for a brief moment as a guy running drops forward.

How much RAM? What OS? what resolution?

For reference, I have an i5 780 at 2.8GHz (quad core), 4GB RAM and some flavor of Radeon HD 5800. Glass smooth at 1600x900.

Maybe drop the res a bit?

I'm cruisin' around with:

RAM: 4 gigs

OS: Windows 7 Home pro something

RESOLUTION: 1440 by 990 (yup)

No idea, then. Sorry.

My guess is just issues with the game. They're very prevalent and his videocard is definitely more than powerful enough to push this game to its limits. My recommendation is to check the dev forums and see if there's any issues and fixes/tricks for AMD cpus and/or that gpu of yours. I have Intel and Nvidia, so I don't know what issues the game currently has for AMD's products.

For instance, I know that some people had to manually turn off the 3D settings for the game as it was causing stuttering. That's for Nvidia though. So, look for AMD stuff, you might find something silly like it's only using one cpu core.

The game's performance is highly inconsistent right now, it seems to be a toss up on if it will run well no matter the system. If you can run it at all, since it continually crashes with some systems.

There are some tweaks you can try, but there isn't any silver bullet to improve performance.

UPDATE: RESEARCH!!! Or reading the in-game control menu. Whatever. The sighting distance pops up at the bottom right and the '6' key switches from iron sights to optics. Which I then re-binded to a mouse button

Like I said earlier sniping feels good, but I got ze questions (for the Fatherland!).

Ahem.

1) How do I switch from glass (optics) to iron sights? I did an anti-skimming 'iron sights' search on this thread and found nada. I even googled it and found nada-zilch.

2) Is there pop-up statistical data when you make a long-distance kill? I read the posters saying 200 meters, 150 meters, and so on. How are you getting this information? Is it from post-battle stuff or as you make the shot?

1) ... It's the 6 key.

2) It'll tell you in the top right after you kill someone no matter how far away you are. Sometimes it takes a few seconds as the people bleed out or whatever.

They tell you about the sights switch in the rifle training, although it's the first level so I can understand information overload and forgetting.

The kill notification delay is a feature, as in real life there's no instant knowledge of whether you killed a guy you have to watch and see, just like there's no psychic knowledge of whether your bullets hit in real life and you don't get a X on your crosshair.

If you look at the Unranked server list you should see Gamers With Jobs listed. It's running TE maps only and supports (in theory) 32 players! Give it a spin, I'll leave it running for a few days at least.

Rock on!

Thanks Certis. What's the difference between ranked and unranked? Is it just stats tracking?

I think so. You won't get those apparently worthless honor points. I may try to register as ranked regardsless at some point.

We're going to be playing tonight at 8PM EST, 7PM CST. You'll find us on Vent and we may use the GWJ server if enough people show up. Be there!

*sigh*
*buys game*
Jerks.

Curious...on the fence...let's see

Like I mentioned on Twitter - I plan on being there pending any emergent family plans. Looking forward to it.

Cool, i'll hop on if im not watching MNF

I'm going to try to make it, but it'll probably be late.

Again I'm getting the steam "The game is currently available. Please try again at the other time" message. Argh.

I can connect to every server accept for the GWJ one, which punkbuster kicks me instantly...

My issue's not connecting to the server...the game won't even boot.

That was fun, even with fewer people (prefer 64 player servers). Quality makes up for quantity, but we could have both! Sorry to hear some of you have bugs.

I've had this a few times on other games and restarting steam seems to make that reset faster. Not always but it passes enough time away that i'm not fretting over it when it happens.
